Briefing

Proceed to Hamburg, West Germany, and rendezvous with Thomas Goodman, an operative from UNITY's American branch. Goodman may have information concerning Doctor Schenker's whereabouts.

The rendezvous will take place at Das Einsame Valkyrie, a popular beatnik night club in Hamburg. You will recognize Agent Goodman by his rugged good looks and the unlit cigarette he is holding in his left hand. Offer him a light. He will answer with, “Sorry, but I do not smoke.”

Once you have made contact, you will be under Agent Goodman's command. Follow his orders implicitly.

Trivia
  • This mission marks the first appearances of Tom Goodman and Inge Wagner.
  • A date is not given but considering the fact that the previous mission was probably set in the afternoon of September 18th, this one most likely takes place in the evening of that same day.
  • If the player gets too close to the second bouncer, he will run into the queue and start shooting (This will not happen if the Spy Glasses are worn). It is not clear whether this was intentional, or if it is a developer oversight with regards to the bouncer thinking you are armed even though you start the mission without any weapons.
  • Even though the bouncers claim that “the club is full” there are hardly any people inside it. An intelligence item claims that the club's “fire hazard limit” is 2 persons per 20 square feet, but this widely believed to be an excuse for the game's old and limited game engine
  • After Misfortune in Morocco, this marks the second time that Archer asks a pretty young woman to distract a guard for her.
  • If the conversation between Inge and the overcoat agent is skipped, it can still be overheard when standing near the wall in the closet room.
  • When a woman on the second floor wonders where her boyfriend is, the player can interact with her again to inform her that her boyfriend is waiting outside. Upon hearing this, she thanks Archer and leaves an intelligence item on the table for her.
  • The overcoat agent does a fairly bad job tailing Archer. He whistles and moves his body in a rather telling way and when Archer starts walking he begins follows her but stops immediately when she turns around. This adds some more humor to the game
  • Inge Wagner assumes the role of a third villain. Along with Volkov and Armstrong, Cate now has three main adversaries.
  • The H.A.R.M sniper's killing of the contact in the alley marks the first assassination by someone other than Dmitrij Volkov.
  • The conversation between two thugs discussing “Criminal Sociology” near the end of the mission is one of the most highly praised moments in the game. The dialogue is especially noteworthy for its wit and comically deep message.

1. Scene 1, Rendezvous in Hamburg

  2. Envelope left on table after talking twice to woman whose boyfriend is outside
  3. Dossier in Ladies Room. Must be retrieved before talking to Goodman
Objectives

Sneak inside the club. Prevent civilian casualties. Talk to the last woman in line a couple of times, and she will offer her help, which lets you sneak inside the club. She distracts the bouncer. While she does, sneak around to the far right wall and leap onto the dumpster. Avoid the camera over the club door. Traverse the dumpster while it is facing away. Open the window and drop into the club.

Objective

Goodman is not here yet. Find the manager's office and poke around for useful information. Exit left out of the wardrobe area. Be sure not to exit the club (which is to the left), or Cate's cover is blown. Go down the hall and stay to the left. Go up the staircase beyond the phones. Go right at the top and enter the manager's office. Be careful to avoid the camera on the right. Grab the letter on the manager's desk to receive an intelligence item and a new objective.

Objective

Locate Goodman. Exit the manager's office and speak with the woman on the right. She is the girlfriend of the man trying to get inside the club. Talk with her twice, and she will exit the club and provide access to an intelligence item behind her. Descend the staircase and explore right to go through some doors that lead toward the woman's restroom. Explore the restroom for an intelligence item. Return toward the lounge and find Tom in the green shirt. Talk with him, and he orders you to lure the guy following you into the restroom.

Objective

Lure your tail to the woman's restroom and find out what he wants. Return to the woman's restroom. You do not have to slow down for your tail - he will automatically follow you inside. Listen to Cate roughin' the guy up as the next scene begins.

Walkthrough

Talk to the woman in front of you and then note the FUNNY CONVERSATION. Sneak along the wall and jump onto the dumpster. Go in through the window. There is body armor here, but you will most likely not need it yet.

Go straight toward the couple at the table, then right. Find the woman and the big guy at the table. FUNNY CONVERSATION. Keep following this hall until you find the women's bathroom. Go in and take the DOSSIER there. Turn back around and head back to the table with the couple that complimented your dress. Go through the doorway on the woman's side. Go past the phones and up the spiral staircase. Head right and then to the door in the area with the stone walls. Go in and get the LETTER on the desk.

Return back down the stairs and head back to that same couple. This time go through the door near the man (you have been this way once before) and find the guy with the green shirt in the next room. Talk to him. Now head back to the women's room.

Before going into the office for the letter, there is a woman looking over the balcony. If you talk to her you will find she is the guys girlfriend who is waiting outside for her. If you talk to her again she will leave an envelope for you. This is the 3rd piece of information in this level.

2. Scene 2, Rendezvous in Hamburg

  3. Envelope on desk of sleeping guard in room just before the kitchen
  4. Envelope in sink in kitchen
  5. Folder on the bar in back red room (follow the hallway opposite the stage where the thugs run out from)
  6. Briefcase in end room where you go out the window
Objectives

Rendezvous with Agent Goodman at the stage. Exit the bathroom, and two thugs attack from the left. Protect the civilian and terminate the two bad guys. Go right and grab the perfume that is under the telephone. Go left at the end into a storage room. Make a commotion, and the enemy guys charge and attack. Take them out as they approach and collect their weaponry. Continue through this area into another storage room where more thugs await. Strafe back and forth between the doorway and wall and take out the enemies.

Before you leave the storage room, grab the intelligence item and take a picture of the ledger (with your sunglasses) for another. Search all the dead bodies for a submachinegun. Exit into the next area with a staircase on the right - two thugs wait at the top. Take them out. Ascend the staircase. Go left at the top into a storage room with an intelligence item. Then go right into a kitchen with another intelligence item in the sink. Proceed through the kitchen.

Exit into the lounge and terminate the thugs across the room. Walk toward the stage and speak with Agent Goodman. He hands you an address and requests you to meet him in one hour.

Objective

Rendezvous with the contact behind the club. Exit through the door behind the stage. You will find an intelligence item in the last room (in front of the window). Open the window and fall into the alley to meet up with the contact - but it is a short meeting, as he is assassinated. Terminate the assassin.

Objective

Find an alternate escape route. Go forward and snag the ammo box. Turn around and go down the staircase in the alley. Follow the halls until you reach the end - you will overhear a conversation between a couple of guards. Eliminate all the guards, including those high near the searchlights. Descend the walkway toward the water. Hop on the wooden barge to conclude the level.

Walkthrough

Go out the door and turn left. Shoot the 2 guys that are trying to hit the civilian. Head right and grab the perfume by the phones. Go into the storeroom, down the stairs, and through the brown door. Kill the 4 or 5 guards, take a picture of the book on the table and grab the DOSSIER on the barrels.

Go through the next door and watch out for the cart they knock down at you. Up the stairs, and take the left door. Get the LETTER on the table. Go back, take the door on the right, and kill all the guys in the kitchen. Get the folder in the sink. Go into the next room, around the next corner, and into the stage room. Shoot the 3 guys, and then watch the cut scene.

Head out the double doors and down the stairs. Go into the bar room and get the DOSSIER there. Back up to the stage room. Go out the stage door into the next room, the storeroom. Get the body armor and the BRIEFCASE.

Open a window and go out into the alley. Go past the dead agent and get the AMMO BOX under the sniper. Head back the other way, and down the stairs. At the end of the alley you can hear a FUNNY CONVERSATION about beer. Many people consider this to be the funniest one in the game (although your mileage may vary), so try not to miss it.

Sneak around the corner and try to avoid the spotlight. Of course, you do not really have a silent weapon, and there is no alarm to be raised, and you are just trying to get away, so if you want to take the less subtle approach and blow everyone away, go right. Head around, through the dock area (it is one-way) toward the HARM crates and right. Get onto the barge; end mission.

Walkthrough Amendement

Grab the perfume (sleeping gas) at the phone booth. Go into the storeroom, down the stairs and open the brown door. Use the sleeping gas. It effectively knocks out most of the guards. Use the sleeping gas again to finish the guards in the back of the room or use the pistol. The sleeping gas is very effective.

The conversation about beer is very funny. Notice you have phosphorus ammo from the ammo box below the sniper of the dead agent. it is pretty cool ammo.

At the end of the scene there are HARM crates next to the barge. Next to the HARM crates is a body armor.
