Information

It is two games in one — play either baseball or football in this game headlined by Bo Jackson. In baseball, you can participate in all the major parts of the ballgame, such as pitching, hitting, and fielding. The field is displayed in 3D using an engine called 3-D Sensation. In football, the field is displayed as an overhead view in 2D with tiny players running around — a sharp contrast to the graphic style of the baseball portion of the game. The football game allows you to design your own plays and watch them with instant replay.

Gameplay

Baseball

You can choose the number of innings you would like to play from 1 to 9, Choose to be the home or visiting team, and select a team from the seven to choose from.

Pitching

Choose the type of pitch. Press A to see the pitcher and move from side to side to line up a pitch. Press A twice to pitch the ball. Select returns to the catcher or B to view the field (useful when attempting to pick off a base runner).

Fielding

Move the players toward the ball to try and catch it, then throw with B or run toward a base with A. If you are running, you can attempt to make a diving catch by holding a direction and pressing B.

Batting

Move the batter with the Control Pad. Swing by pressing/holding A to swing all the way through. Tap A to hold the bat out and attempt to bunt.

Runner on Base

Hold B and tap a direction while waiting for a pitch to attempt to steal. If you hit the ball far, you can continue running the bases by holding the next base's direction and pressing B.

The game does not end in a tie.

Football

Choose the game length. Choose to play a Practice game or a regular Competition game. Choose Heads or Tails for the coin toss. If you win the toss you choose to kick off or receive the ball to start the game.

You only see the field length in 15 yard increments. There is no seeing what is ahead of you. The player you control has a circle around them.

Defense

Press A when near the player with the ball (also circled) to try and tackle them.

Offense

Press Start to hike the ball and A to pass to the pre-designated target. This can be very tough since you will not be able to see what is beyond the 15 yards on the screen, so a successful pass seems to happen entirely by chance.

In between each play, a screen with the score, time, timeouts remaining, current down, how many yards to get first down again, and the yard line you are on will be displayed. Press Start to go to the playbook where you choose the next play. Use Left and Right to move the cursor on the drawing to determine which player you will control at the snap.

When on offense, you will see a timer at the bottom-right of the screen. You must hike the ball before the timer counts down or you will be penalized. Penalties happen at random. When you are on offense, do not move or press anything for at least a full second after all players are in position, or you will be given a 5-yard penalty.

At the bottom of the screen is the score on each side, the current down/yards to go, and time left in the quarter. When a quarter ends, you simply press Start to continue playing. At half time, you may have to kick off the ball to your opponent, otherwise play continues as it did prior to the end of the last quarter.

When you make a touchdown, you will kick a field goal, which seems to happen automatically as well for an extra point. You then have to kick the ball off to the opponent and play continues.

No players have statistics in the football game; Player 1 is the East (white) Team and the computer is the West (black) Team. When the game is over, that is it.
