Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon

Willow Bow

Toropec, Russia
October 23, 2008

Items Needed: none

Weather: Snow

The Russians are taking defenses in the Toropec hills, and only one big army is left of the Ultranationalists. The Ghosts are to usher two Bradley tanks into the area, dominate three significant tactical places in the mountains, and eliminate the military camp on the other side.

Mission Objectives
  • Take north pass
  • Take south pass
  • Take top of the hill
  • Neutralize Russian camp

This job is for you to guide the Bradley tanks up the mountains and keep them safe. This time, however, you need to defeat all the enemies before they come within sight of the tanks. You have two tanks, but the smartest way to go about this is to only take one tank at a time. It is easier this way because you only keep up with one tank at a time. It would not be good to have one of them blown up.

You are traveling through mountains, so keep Alpha and Bravo on opposite sides. This makes it easy to trap any enemies in the crossfire. Having teams on each side of you makes it difficult for the enemy to sneak up on you.

You come across a log cabin if you charge the southern pass and start the south Bradley tank. You also meet three mean enemies. They are at the corner on the eastern side. It is not necessary to defeat them, so you can avoid this meeting.

Taking the North Pass

Go east and head toward the objective point on the north pass. The second gap brings trouble. Look around for enemies to the right as you go up the hill. They hide in the trees and wait until you go toward the north pass house. There is one with a grenade launcher who may try to drop one on your head. There is another enemy house close to the north pass. Four guards divided into two teams patrol this area. One team will approach you at the corner of the house, and it has easy cover against the mountain. You need to deal with them, but watch for the second team too. It either be behind the first team or coming at you from the east.

Watch out for an enemy at the top of the hill who start firing at you with a sniper rifle. do not worry about him until you get rid of the four enemies close to you. You do not want to take on too much at once. do not go east either, because there are more enemies with sniper rifles from the north. It would not be good to get caught in crossfire. Three enemies from the top of the hill come to help the house enemies. Be aware that one of them has a grenade launcher.

When you get rid of all the house guards, have your sniper take care of the sniper on top of the hill. Hide beside the west side of the house and eliminate the three enemies coming at you. After that, get rid of the second sniper. If the two men on the north pass have not seen you in a while, they will probably be coming to get you. You can hide on the porch of the house and defeat them. do not worry if you lose men, because you are completing two objectives here: the north pass and the top of the hill. If you do not get it done, just get to the top of the hill and defeat the remaining guys.

Taking the South Pass

The enemies with have machine gun nests protecting the south pass. Go toward them from the top of the eastern hill instead of head on. From the top of the hill, go southwest until you see the pipeline that crosses the mountains. Follow the pipeline until you get to a cliff looking down on the enemy. From here, you can shoot them from above. Look out for two enemies on the cliff across from you. One of them has a sniper rifle. They come down from the hill where you can shoot them easily.

Now move on to the machine gun nests. It is possible that they have not noticed you, if you are quiet on your way to the edge of the cliff. do not let them see you until you have your sniper locked in on a perfect shot on the western machine gun nest. defeat these guys and then look to the eastern machine gun nest for the guard. Have your sniper ready and travel along the cliff until you can get him. This should take care of the south pass.

Russian Camp

The guys ahead of you have rocket launchers, so in order to keep the Bradley tank in tact, eliminate them in a hurry. Go back to the north pass and travel south. Six patrol men will be on the farthest side of the large rock. They are waiting for the next tank. One of them has an antitank missile and will climb up the rocks behind you, defeat him before he destroys the tank.

Get rid of all these guys as soon as you can. The team that does not have the rocket launcher has a grenade launcher. They could get above you, so you need to defeat them before they can drop grenades on your head. You soon arrive at the plateau above the enemy military camp. There is a series of machine gun nests to the west, and to the south, there is a group of enemies and a shed. There are two groups. The group with two men has the second rocket launcher. That is the group you need to destroy first. The group with three men are trying to catch you unaware.

When you do not see any more enemies, go toward the shed. The second patrol of enemies could be here, and watch out for the guy with the machine gun to the east. He is an accurate shot, so you should stay low and go to the rocks east of the shed where you can get a good shot on him. When you clear the shed area, get your team against the rocks and go south. Remember, you have got to defeat this machine gunner. He is possibly the most excellent shooter of the game, so if you do not defeat him, he defeats you. After you get him, have your sniper shoot the other four enemies, and the mission is complete.

If you have trouble, you can use your M203s or your OICWs to send some grenades over the hill. This will either eliminate a large number of enemies, or cause them to run from their cover.
