Story
CIA agent Zoe Nightshade, a mole in the Hong Kong based Identicon Corporation, is discovered and captured. Identicon, a botanical research firm, is a possible front for a weapons-smuggling ring. James Bond infiltrates the facility in an attempt to rescue her, as well as retrieve a suspicious courier case in the same structure. After freeing Nightshade from a submarine set to launch, the pair flee the facility with the courier case. Nigel Bloch, the head of Identicon, has his forces chase the agents through the streets of Hong Kong. The two steal a second case of vials from a nearby Identicon factory. They then rendezvous with R, who provides Bond with a gadget-laden BMW Z8. A limousine pulls up, as an assassin inside launches a rocket at the agents, killing Zoe, and steals the case. Bond gives chase, stopping an armored van which contained the stolen vials.
The vials contain nine blood samples, eight of which contained blood of world leaders. One contains the blood of British diplomat Reginald Griffin, serving in Romania, who is obsessed with protecting a room, outside of his jurisdiction, in the embassy. Bond investigates the embassy, finding Griffin dead, before a similar-looking man attacks him. After overcoming him, Bond finds a message from Bloch on Griffin's computer that mentions Malprave Industries, based in Switzerland. Bond takes the information from the computer and escapes.
At Malprave Industries, Bond, posing as a journalist, sees that the CEO is a woman he met at the embassy, Adrian Malprave. After collecting evidence, he makes his escape from the faciilty. Analyzation of the computer message from Romania mentions "Damaged Goods," believed to be a codename for Dr. Natalya Damescu, formerly in the employ of Malprave, now under protection at the British embassy in Romania. She also has inside information to offer. Carla the Jackal, an infamous terrorist who also killed Zoe, leads a raid on the embassy. Bond fights the terrorists before running into Damescu. After a confrontation with the Jackal, Bond picks up a data chip on something known as Poseidon, and delivers it to R for analysis.
The chip leads Bond to an oil rig in the South China Sea. After running into Bloch, Bond follows him into Poseidon, an underwater base devoted to clone development. After destroying the lab, he climbs onto a submarine bound for a Royal Navy aircraft carrier. On the submarine, Bond finds Zoe, who reveals that the woman he "saved" from the Identicon facility was a clone meant to infiltrate the CIA, and that the Jackal intended to kill Bond.
Depending on whether or not the player picked up the verification code, Bond and Zoe are either captured or are taken to the carrier unharmed. In either case, the pair investigate the ship. It is discovered that 8 world leaders have been cloned, and are to be replaced by the clones. Bond destroys the craft carrying the clones, and the pair make their escape. They arrive at Malprave's base in the Swiss Alps, where Bond saves the eight world leaders. Before he can escape the base, however, he encounters Malprave, who has set the base to self-destruct. She reveals Bloch is still alive, and that Bond had killed his clone. After an encounter with him, Bond follows him into the main office and kills him. He manages to escape the base before it explodes, taking Malprave with it.
Introduction
Die-hard fans of console first-person shooters easily remembers that in September 1997, a game by the name of Goldeneye came along that broke free from the usual not-so-though-provoking kill fests that were growing dull. Although it had been years since the movie had been released and not expected to be very much, the game imitated the special style of the James Bond films.
Since that monumental game, missing an opportunity to make more James Bond games would be foolish. Electronic Arts picked up the license and proceeded to create Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and ultimately the game we're all playing right now, Agent Under Fire.
Agent Under Fire keeps intact all the things that made the previous Bond games great, but adds so much to make the experience feel more like you are playing as James Bond. From the many chances to perform tactical maneuvers to the cheesy Bond puns to the babes, this definitely feels more like Bond than ever before.
Basics
The basic parts of Agent Under Fire, including strategies you can use to hone your fighting skills, a look at the scoring system used to grade your performance, and tips for getting high scores to unlock cheats.
Strategies
Control Style
First of all, in order to play to the best of your ability, choose a control style that fits your needs. To change the control style, go to Options on the main screen and choose the Controller Setup option. There are a total of four control styles to choose from. Test them all out and use the one that feels most natural for you.
Hit Zones
Where you hit the enemy decides how much damage you do. In general, limb shots do the least damage, while head shots do the most. Torso shots do medium damage, and is where the auto-aim fixes itself on the lower difficulties. If the enemy is wearing body armor, the shots to the torso deals little damage. As a general rule, try to get head shots whenever possible.
Find Cover
Standing out in the middle of the room is not the best strategy when going head-to-head with the enemy. Try to find cover to protect yourself while they are firing. A crate or other object in the middle of the room protects the lower half of your body while standing, and when you duck, you cover up most of yourself. If you cannot find anything like this, walls work well too. Just duck behind a corner and pop out to unload a few shots, then retreat. The main thing to keep in mind is that a few quick shots followed by moving for cover (especially while reloading) is a helpful tactic.
Stealth and Ambusing
If an enemy does not see you, you can get the first shot in. If you are in a good position, you may have all the time in the world to aim your weapon and pull off a head shot. Try to sneak up on enemies whenever possible, because you always be at the advantage.
Distance Kills
Everyone loves to snipe an unsuspecting enemy from a distance. Not only is it satisfying, it is effective. The further away you are from an enemy, the harder it is for them to hit you. But keep in mind, if you do not have a weapon that can zoom in, it is just as hard (or harder) for you to hit them back.
Reloading
After you expend a clip, you have to wait a second or two to reload your ammo. During this time you have no way to fight back, so duck for cover as you begin to run low. Also, if you are about the enter a room with some baddies and have only a couple bullets left in the clip, reload before entering.
Cheaters Do Prosper
Opening up the cheats for the Single Player mission can help you out. The many cheats you can unlock will help your health, golden gun performance, or other things, making it easier for you to unlock other cheats or complete later levels. you are not penalized at all for using cheats, so unlocking them is all to your advantage.
Manual Aiming
The auto-aim feature helps your aiming, but it also only targets the chest of the enemy. This is not the most damaging area to hit, especially if the enemy is wearing body armor. Practice using the manual aim to score head hits.
Strafing
Strafing (sidestepping left or right) is a good way to avoid enemy fire, but it also makes aiming much more difficult. If you can master firing accurately and strafing at the same time, you have the advantage in any situation. This is particularly helpful in multiplayer, where a moving target is much harder to hit than one standing still.
Reloading
Whenever you are not under fire, take a second to reload your weapon. You do not lose any of the ammo left in the clip, and you are prepared with a full magazine for the next firefight.
Jumping Up Stairs
Bond walks up stairs more slowly than normal walking or going down stairs, but you can speed up the process by jumping up them. This makes you less of an easy target when you go up staircases.
Scoring System
After completing each level, you are graded in a number of categories on how effective you were in going through the mission. How you are graded is described below.
Bond Moves
Maximum Points: 20,000
The Bond Moves are some of the coolest and most Bond-like things you can do in the game. Each level has anywhere from four to thirteen Bond Moves that can be done. In trying to find out when, where, and how to do the Bond Moves requires a keen eye (see that box over the guard's head?) and a little imagination (how would Bond get through this situation?). The end result is cool ways of dispatching foes and getting through the levels in a way that is very reminiscent of Bond.
Enemies Subdued
Maximum Points: 20,000
Every enemy you kill also raises your point total. there is a set number of enemies in a level, and the more you manage to find and defeat, the higher your score is raised.
Ammo Efficiency
Maximum Points: 15,000
Conserving ammo is a real sign of skill and a good point booster. It is based on the number of enemies you have killed compared to the number of bullets/rockets/whatever used. The less shots you expend, the better. To boost this score, avoid using rapid fire guns. Stick to stronger guns, especially the SSR4000 Sniper Rifle (which usually takes care of enemies with one shot). Also, use the manual aim and go for head shots to take enemies out with one hit.
Weapon Accuracy
Maximum Points: 20,000
Hitting your target is a big part of your final score. Since you can see the bullets firing in this game, you can tell which guns have sloppy aim. Try to stick to using ones that hit the target. The Golden Accuracy cheat is very helpful for getting 100% accuracy, if you are using the Golden Gun.
Damage Taken
Maximum Points: 15,000
Damage taken is based on the percentage of your total health that has been worn away. On the Agent of 00 Agent, getting 0% is very difficult. 100% is the maximum damage percent you can have. Finding body armor does not lower this percentage.
Mission Duration
Maximum Points: 10,000
If you finish the level in under the target time, you receive all 10,000 points. The longer you go over, the less points you receive.
007 Bonus Tokens
Maximum Points: 50,000
This bonus is either hit or miss. If you collect all of the tokens, you are rewarded with a 50,000 point bonus. If you collect less than all of them, you do not receive any. This category gives a big boost to your score, but the tokens only appears after you have gotten a gold medal on the level.
Getting High Scores
Basically, getting high scores relies partly on knowing where certain things are (007 Bonus Tokens, Bond Move locations) and also having skill. Keep all of the facets of scoring in mind while completing levels.
First of all, move quickly. You must complete the level in under the target time. However, if you know you usually make it under the target time when playing through the level, you can slow down a bit. Never speed through so quickly that you are sloppy and careless or leave things undone.
Next, make sure most of your shots hit the targets. do not fire bullets aimlessly, and use weapons with good accuracy. Also conserve ammo. do not waste it and do not shoot any more bullets into an enemy than you have to. Use powerful guns like the Sniper Rifle whenever you can to get one-shot kills.
And, of course, try to avoid enemy fire. Duck for cover and retreat to reload.
Last, but not least, be sure to complete all of the Bond Moves and get all the 007 Bonus Tokens (if they are in the level yet). These are easy ways to boost your score. Consult the walkthrough to find where they are.
Characters
James Bond
Also known by his codename '007', Bond is a British Secret Intelligence Service agent, and the protagonist of the game, sent to investigate the beholds of Identicon, associated with Malprave Industries and track down the vials containing the blood samples of many world leaders. Though the likeness of then-current James Bond, Pierce Brosnan had been used in the three games prior to Agent Under Fire, Bond's character model in the game is rather generic. Claims have been made that the design of Bond in the game was intended to be an amalgamation of all the actors who had portrayed 007 up to that point. Other sources have claimed that the design was modeled after Adam Blackwood, the actor who voices Bond in the game.
Zoe Nightshade
A CIA agent, gone missing in action while investigating Adrian Malprave. She was cloned after her capture, whom Malprave would use to infiltrate the agency she works for. The clone was killed at the early stages of the game by Malprave's henchwoman, Carla The Jackal, with a missile, which was meant for Bond and not her. Later, she was found by Bond in a submarine, to whom she reveals Malprave's deadly schemes. She is said to be modeled after an unknown Canadian model, and was voiced by Sydney Rainin-Smith.
Adrian Malprave
The main antagonist of the game. She is the head of Malprave Industries, whose intention is to take over the world by kidnapping eight world leaders and replacing them with cloned doppelgangers. Despite being the evil mastermind, she never battles Bond personally but rather sends in her henchman on her behalf. She is voiced by Corina Harmon.
Nigel Bloch
An international terrorist who moonlights as the CEO of Identicon, a subsidiary of Malprave Industries. He secretly works with Adrian Malprave in her scheme for world domination and acts as her proxy in battle, confronting Bond with a rocket launcher and jet-pack during the final fight. He is voiced by Denny Delk, perhaps most notable for voicing the memorable role of Murray in the Monkey Island series of video-games.
Carla The Jackal
Malprave's extremist henchwoman; Carla is determined to kill Bond in order to satisfy her pride and prejudice. Her name is a play on a real life criminal named Carlos The Jackal. She is voiced by Erin Cahill.
Reginald Griffin
A British diplomat, working in the British Embassy in Switzerland, is a world leader himself whose blood sample was found in the vials. He was killed before Bond could get to him, who in return was encountered by Reginald's clone, whom he neutralizes in the process. Investigating his profile and personal computer in his embassy headquarters, Bond learns about Malprave Industries. He is voiced by Joe Paulino
R
He is Q's personal assistant and second-in-command in the Q-Branch, reserved for providing Bond and every other 00-Agent with the latest high-tech gadgets and vehicles for his assignments. He is voiced by Miles Anderson.
M
She is the head of the British Intelligence or the rather known MI6 to which Bond works for, often briefs 007 his missions and contacts him through earpiece for further information to be supplied with during a progress. Her character is modeled after Judi Dench's portrayal of the character but never makes a physical appearance. She is voiced again by Caron Pascoe, who had previously voiced M in the video game adaptations of Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough.
Dr. Natalya Damescu
Dr. Natalya Damescu is a fictional geneticist and former employee of bio-engineering company Malprave Industries and its subsidiary, the Identicon Corporation. The character appears in Electronic Arts' 2001 James Bond video-game 007: Agent Under Fire and was voiced by Beattie Edney.
Damescu is a brilliant scientist, and former employee of Adrian Malprave. Before working for Malprave Industries, Damescu was a leading researcher of DNA sampling and cloning. Fearing retribution after resigning from her post, Damescu fled to the British Embassy in Bucharest, carrying a Data Chip with information on an Identicon special project known only as Poseidon - a cloning laboratory in the South China Sea. In a bid to kidnap Damescu, Malprave has British diplomat Reginald Griffin replaced by a clone. The kidnapping is frustrated by the intervention of James Bond, who follows a trail of genetic samples (including that of Griffin) to the Embassy and kills the clone. An unspecified period of time later, Malprave orders her associate Carla the Jackal to lead a raid on the Romanian embassy before the scientist can trade her confidential information with Bond and MI6. 007 foils the attempt on Damescu's life and kills the Jackal, but the doctor reveals that Malprave's men have already taken the chip. Bond gives chase through the streets of Bucharest in his Aston Martin to reclaim the chip.
Bella and Bebe
Bella and Bebe were fictional identical twins and the personal assistants of Malprave Industries owner Adrian Malprave. Both were minor characters and appeared in the 2001 James Bond video-game Agent Under Fire and were voiced by Lois Wong.
Bella and Bebe are identical twins and the personal assistants of Adrian Malprave. Due to their indiscernible appearance and their boss' known tendency for genetic tampering, the two are most likely engineered clones, similar to the Super Thugs. During their brief and only appearance in the game's story, both enter Malprave's office and inform Bond (posing as a journalist named Somerset) that his interview with their employer has been delayed. Their fate is unknown but the two most likely perished in the blast that destroyed Malprave's base. One of the two appears as a playable character in the game's multiplayer, identified as Twin.
Z
Z is the code name of a fictional employee of MI6's research and development division, Q Branch and assistant to R. The character briefly appeared in Electronic Arts' 2001 James Bond video-game 007: Agent Under Fire.
Multiplayer
Bond games have been known for their incredible multiplayer experiences. Agent Under Fire offers up an intricate, customizable multiplayer mode that is sure to keep you and a few other friends entertained for a while.
Modes of Play
All modes of play can be played free-for-all or in teams.
Combat Training
This is the basic type of multiplayer play. Your goal is based on either time or kills. Under time, the player with the most kills when the game time ends is the winner. Under kills, the player that reaches a certain number of kills first wins. You can play both ways at the same time, too.
Protect the Flag
A classic multiplayer mode, whoever holds the flag the longest before the timer runs out is the winner.
Anti-Terrorist Training
In this mode, you earn points for killing opponents and more points for defusing bombs. This mode is best played in teams, where you can have one person defusing a bomb and another protecting.
Top Agent
One character is designated the "Top Agent" and it is the other players' goal to kill him. However, the Top Agent is more powerful than the other players, so it is harder to eliminate him. Whoever does eliminate him, however, becomes the new Top Agent. You can only play this mode with three or four players.
Golden Gun
A Golden Gun is placed in the arena somewhere. One shot with the Golden Gun and the enemy is dead. Since the weapon is so powerful, getting your hands on it is very helpful for success.
Maps
Dungeon
The underground dungeon is made from stone and comprising of staircases, doorways, and broken walls that can be blown open. it is rather small, so be prepared to meet up with your opponents often.
Town
The Town level is a quiet little village. at least it was before you showed up. The Town consists of alleys and roads connecting several open areas. You can even get to the rooftops in some places.
Wine Cellar
The wine cellar is a small arena filled with support pillars. it is made up of two main rooms, and another area in the middle. The pit in the center holds the powerful grenade launcher by default, but you are a sitting duck while inside trying to retrieve it.
Red Sector
This area's main feature is a large central room with two different levels. Elevators will take you from one level to the next. do not forget to use your Q-Claw to get around, too.
Castle
Complete with a moat and lots of ledges looking down upon the level.
Cooling Station
The Cooling Station is a large level consisting of three main rooms and two floors. Get up to the balcony above to fire on enemies below. Retreat to one of the many exits if you are getting beaten badly.
Abbey
Consisting of a couple very large rooms and winding side paths connecting them, the abbey is an interesting level. One of the large chambers has a big hole in the ground, looking over the basement. There is only one way to get out of the basement, and it is a good place to kill opponents that get stuck down there.
Arsenal
The arsenal is filled with tunnels, crates, and ladders, and is quite a large arena. Shooting the pipes releases damaging steam. Use the crates as cover and use the Q-Claw to move around quickly.
Harbor
The large Harbor arena is made up of large warehouses, smaller structures, and wooden platforms connecting everything together. You can climb to the tops of the structures, too. Part of the level even goes into the water - do not be afraid to get your feet wet.
Blue Sector
Featuring multiple levels, lots of ramps, and some tight passages, the Blue Sector is a great place to use explosives and rapid fire weapons. The big central room has many levels.
Rocket Manor
This map is unlocked by getting a Platinum Medal on Level 1, Trouble in Paradise. The level is pretty much one gigantic room, perfect for rocket launchers and the like.
Gadgets
Q's successor, R, has created a bunch of helpful gadgets for Bond to use. These tools are used to help Bond complete his mission objectives rather than waste bad guys.
Q-Decrypter
This item is built into Bond's cell phone. It has the ability to de-scramble encrypted codes used in locking doors and computer systems. By using it, Bond can gain access to some doors and mainframes.
Q-Claw
Also hidden inside Bond's cell phone, the Q-Claw is a grappling wire that pulls Bond over to a location far away. It can attach only to special surfaces looking like a small, circular grating (in single player). You can usually use this gadget to take stealthier routes through an area.
Q-Laser
The Q-Laser is not powerful enough to hurt humans, but can still somehow cut through metals. It is mainly used to cut through visible locks on doors or ventilator shafts, as well as things like chains and laser grid systems.
Q-Specs
These are x-ray glasses. Using them makes hidden doors or panels appear in a different color than the rest of the surroundings.
Q-Camera
This powerful gadget has the strange ability to take pictures. Use it when you need to relay visual images to MI6.
Q-Remoe
The Q-Remote downloads programs that you can use elsewhere. This includes things from programs that open doors to programs that activate crane movement, to many more.
Q-Card
The Q-Card is great for getting through locks. It deactivates locks.
Q-Jet
Perhaps the most exciting invention of Q-Branch, the Q-Jet gives you the ability to fly into the air for a short period of time. It consumes fuel quickly, and must be refilled after each boost at an appropriate fuel station. You cannot actually fly with this - it is really more like a glorified jump.
Night Vision Goggles
The night vision goggles will make enemies appear brighter than the surroundings, making finding enemies easier in darker areas. It does have a limited battery, though.
Weapons
Agent Under Fire features over fifteen different types of firearms as well as other weapons. Each firearm is based on a real firearm, but is given a pseudonym, the same manner as the weapons in GoldenEye 64, and The World is Not Enough. Most of the gadgets are concealed in a mobile phone, including a decryptor, grapple, laser, and remote transmitter. Bond is also provided with a card that disrupts electronic signals, as well as a jetpack.
Wolfram P2K
Type: Pistol
Clip Size: 6
Rate of Fire: Above Average
Accuracy: Good
Features: Silencer Attachment
This is Bond's basic handgun, and he uses it for many different missions. it is particularly useful in stealth missions, where Bond can equip it with a silencer. It fires fairly quickly and with decent accuracy. However, you are reloading a lot with it and it is not particularly powerful, so there is usually better options. As a basic weapon, though, it is pretty good.
Windsor Viper
Type: Pistol
Clip Size: 6
Rate of Fire: Below Average
Accuracy: Excellent
Features: None
The Viper is a revolver that some enemies use. It is more powerful and accurate than the other handguns, but also fires the slowest. Its slow rate of fire make it a less than useful weapon.
IAM Defender
Type: Pistol
Clip Size: 6
Rate of Fire: Average
Accuracy: Good
Features: None
The Defender is quite similar to the Viper, only it is a little less powerful, a little faster to fire, and a little less accurate. Overall, it is a good alternative to the P2K.
Dart gun
Type: Pistol
Clip Size: 3
Rate of Fire: Average
Accuracy: Excellent
Features: None
The Dart gun is used when you do not actually want to kill someone, but rather knock them out. The tranquilizers are very effective and the gun is very accurate. Not a bad weapon.
Golden Gun
Type: Pistol
Clip Size: 6 - 12
Rate of Fire: Above Average
Accuracy: Good
Features: Silencer Attatchment
The Golden Gun is a more powerful version of the Wolfram P2K. In other respects, it is very similar at first. However, it is easily upgradable through the cheats you unlock. You can improve its power, accuracy, clip size, and more to make it a very useful weapon. The Golden Gun replaces the P2K as a starting weapon if you unlock it.
Koffler & Stock KS7
Type: Submachine Gun
Clip Size: 30
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Poor
Features: None
The KS7 is the most basic of rapid-fire guns you can use. Its main weakness is its horrible accuracy; bullets spray just about everywhere if you are not close to the enemy. it is also very weak and the clip size is quite small. Use it only as a last resort.
Ingalls Type 20
Type: Submachine Gun
Clip Size: 40
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Poor
Features: None
The Ingalls Type 20 is a small step up from the K&S KS7, with a little more power and accuracy, making it actually a decent gun if you are relatively close to whomever you are attacking. Still, its sloppy firing makes it a less desirable choice. The clip size is also larger.
Calypso P-750
Type: Submachine Gun
Clip Size: 80
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Below Average
Features: None
The Calypso is yet another step up on the chain of Submachine Guns, offering better accuracy than the Ingalls and KS7. It is still quite weak and takes quite a few shots to down an opponent. A plus is the larger clip size than other Submachine Guns. it is a decent choice for using.
Munitions Belgique PS100
Type: Sumachine Gun
Clip Size: 60
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Average
Features: None
The PS100 is the best Submachine Gun around. It has a larger magazine than the Calypso, and also has a faster rate of fire. You do not get your hands on it until late in the game, but it is extra abilities are worth the wait.
Kazakovich KA-57
Type: Assault Rifle
Clip Size: 60
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Below Average
Features: None
This is the basic assault rifle, carried by many basic ground troops. it is not particularly powerful, and its poor accuracy is a real detractor. However, it is a decent weapon and its quick rate of fire makes it an acceptable weapon.
Windsor FSU-4
Type: Assault Rifle
Clip Size: 40
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Average
Features: Grenade Launcher Alternate Fire
The FSU-4 is an excellent assault rifle, with good accuracy, power, and rate of fire. A real bonus is the Grenade Launcher function, which allows you to launch explosives at enemies with your gun.
Meyer-Westlicher UGW
Type: Assault Rifle
Clip Size: 40
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Below Average
Features: 3x Scope
The scope on the UGW allows for greater accuracy from a greater distance, but the fire itself sprays more wildly than most other assault rifles. Overall, it is quite similar in power and accuracy to the KA-57, but with a scope attachment.
Koffler & Stock D17
Type: Assault Rifle
Clip Size: 50
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Above Average
Features: 4x Scope
Without a doubt the best assault rifle in the game, the D17 is a huge improvement over the Koffler & Stock KS7. This gun has very good accuracy for a rapid-fire gun, and pumps out bullets quickly. Ass to this a scope capable of 4x zoom, and you have got yourself a great weapon.
Hand Attack
Type: Other
Clip Size: N/A
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Excellent
Features: None
When you have got no weapons left to use, your only option is to get down and dirty with your hands. To perform a punch or judo chop, you must be standing right next to the enemy. This means you are an easy target as you run up. This move is pretty powerful, usually only taking one or two swings, but also is pretty slow to use multiple times.
Frinesi Special 12
Type: Other
Clip Size: 8
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Poor - Average
Features: Auto-Shotgun (Multiplayer Only)
This shotgun is an excellent weapon. However, its power is drastically effected by how close you are to the enemy. The bullets spray from the gun, so if you are too far away, it does not hit very well. Get close, however, and you usually get a kill in one shot. You can usually run up to an enemy and get close enough to inflict critical damage before they react, but sometimes you have to endure some damage to get close enough. If you cannot take an enemy down with one shot (say, if they are wearing body armor), you better have some cover, as it takes awhile to pump.
SWZ SSR4000
Type: Other
Clip Size: 5
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Excellent
Features: 6x Scope
The SSR4000 kills every enemy in one shot if you hit them in a good place (torso or head). It takes a while to reload, and aiming also takes a little time, so be sure you have decent cover or have the element of surprise. The 6x scope is the best in the game.
Grenades
Type: Other
Clip Size: N/A
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: N/A
Features: None
Grenades are powerful explosives, but are harder to use than rocket launchers or grenade launchers. It takes a few seconds for a tossed grenade to explode, leading to the need to anticipate enemy movement. Grenades are best used to take out groups of enemies in a small area. The longer you hold down the fire button, the stronger and farther the throw is.
MRL-22
Type: Other
Clip Size: 1
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Above Average
Features: Guided Rockets (Multiplayer only)
This is a lightweight rocket launcher. One press of the fire button and whatever you point at goes boom. A powerful weapon, but be careful you do not get caught in the explosion yourself. Guided rockets in multiplayer tracks a target until it hits them or an object in the way.
Fixed Guns
Type: Other
Clip Size: N/A
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Below Average
Features: None
When near a Fixed Gun, press the action button to man it. Fixed guns are nice because you do not have to worry about expending your ammo and their rapid fire damages enemies quickly. The problem with them, obviously, is that they are stuck in one spot. Since you cannot dodge enemy fire, you usually only want to use the guns as a last resort.
CH-6
Type: Driving Weapon (Rail Shooter)
Clip Size: 1
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Above Average
Features: None
This is a rocket launcher that Bond uses in some of the rail shooter levels. It shoots powerful rockets in a straight line at wherever you aim. Its slow rate of fire does not make it good in situations against ground troops, but against vehicles, it is devastating. It can even tear through armored vehicles well.
KA-57S
Type: Driving Weapon (Rail Shooter)
Clip Size: 50
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Below Average
Features: Scope
The KA-57S is your basic rapid fire weapon, and should be used as default in most driving situations. It can tear through human enemies with ease, and also pop tires on cars.
Shotgun
Type: Driving Weapon (Rail Shooter)
Clip Size: 8
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Below Average
Features: None
Like the Frinesi, the Shotgun's power depends on how close you are to the enemy. Because you usually are not right next to your opponents in the Driving Levels, the Shotgun's power is usually diminished. Also, it is slow rate of fire means you need to get your shots just right, since you speed by while driving. The Shotgun is an OK driving weapon if you just need a quick shot, but stick to the KA-57S in most circumstances.
RCH-1
Type: Driving Weapon (Rail Shooter)
Clip Size: 1
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Poor - Excellent
Features: User-Guided
When you fire a rocket from the RCH-1, your view switches to that of the rocket, and you can control where it travels. it is excellent for getting pinpoint accuracy.
Machine Guns
Type: Driving Weapon (Driving)
Clip Size: N/A
Rate of Fire: Excellent
Accuracy: Above Average
Features: None
Pressing the fire button while manually driving a car will activate the machine guns. While they are not as powerful as Rockets or Missiles, they are good at defeating ground troops and hitting things on the ground (like oil drums). Since you won't run out of ammo, use the machine guns when you can.
Rockets
Type: Driving Weapon (Driving)
Clip Size: N/A
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Average
Features: None
Rockets will fire straight out from where your car is pointing. they are incredibly powerful, and two rockets is enough to take out most cars, armored or not. Precise aiming and anticipation of the enemies' next move is key.
Misslies
Type: Driving Weapon (Driving)
Clip Size: N/A
Rate of Fire: Poor
Accuracy: Excellent
Features: Homing
Missiles are a touch weaker than Rockets, but they also lock on and home into targets. they are excellent for winding roads that make aiming Rockets difficult. You usually start out with less Missiles, though, and they are harder to find.
Missions
License to Thrill
Gadgets and guns. Intrigue and action. Blondes, brunettes, and redheads. Step into the polished shoes of Agent 007, James Bond, in the latest entry in the wildly successful espionage shooter franchise. The superspy's first foray onto the Xbox, 007: Agent Under Fire, offers thrills, spills and kills as you guide Bond through an all-new original story involving malevolent corporations, government conspiracies, rogue agents, and curvaceous dames (usually all at once).
The life of James Bond is no simple point-and-shoot game. 007: Agent Under Fire puts you in the driver's seat of two well-armed, R-modified BMW sports cars and the classic Aston Martin DB5. As Bond, you'll also ride shotgun on many other vehicles, blasting enemy minions with missile launchers and rear-mounted machine rifles while your babe du jour handles the wheel.
The danger ratchets up several notches on 007's infiltration and stealth missions, where one wrong move will get your license to kill permanently revoked. Using an array of Q-gadgets doled out by techno-wizard 'R,' you can infiltrate enemy submarine stations, break into the headquarters of beautiful-yet-power-mad industrialist Adrian Malprave, or slip into the British Embassy armed only with a non-lethal dart gun.
Of course, 007: Agent Under Fire is about more than the single-player game. Multiplayer games for up to four players (or more with the Xbox System Link) include simple deathmatch Combat Training, Protect the Flag, and Golden Gun (where one shot from that shiny pistol finishes your opponent). In addition to this classic first-person shooter fare, you can join a bomb-defusing race against time in Anti-Terrorist Training or protect a lone V.I.P. from everyone else in the game.
Whether you are on foot in Romania or racing down the streets of Hong Kong in a rocket-launching 750 BMW OiL, 007:AUF lets you pull off "Bond moves" that score mission points and unlock secret weapons like the deadly Golden Gun. Bond moves are like normal moves, but they are done with style and flair that one expects from England's most elegant spy.
Human Bond-age ... James Bond-age
Since his official film debut in the 1962 thriller Dr. No, British superspy James Bond has battled the forces of evil and romanced legions of “Bond girls” in more than 20 movies. EA Games and developer MGM Interactive add a new chapter to the Bond mythos with the Platinum Hits title 007: Agent Under Fire, a combination first-person shooter and action-packed driving game that pits the suave secret agent against a whole new set of enemies bent on taking over the world using high-tech weaponry and evil clones. Join us now for a look at Bond’s mysterious past, his deadliest enemies, and the ladies that made it all worthwhile.
Bond on Film
Five different actors (six if you count Woody Allen’s 1967 spoof Casino Royale), have portrayed Ian Fleming’s prototypical secret agent 007. Strangely enough, only one, Roger Moore, was actually British. Sean Connery is from Scotland, George Lazenby was Autralian, Timothy Dalton hailed from Wales, and current the Bond, Pierce Brosnan, is Irish.
Call Him Connery
Every Bond fan has his or her favorite Bond actor and 007 movie, but Sean Connery, the first Bond, is considered by most to be the best. Quick with a quip and fast with his fists, some of Connery’s greatest Bond adventures include:
Dr. No
Bond travels to Jamaica to investigate the death of a fellow agent and find the source of strange energy waves that have caused problems for U.S. missile launches. Dr. No features Jack Lord, of Hawaii Five-O fame, as CIA agent Felix Leiter; Ursula Andress as the bikini-clad Honey Ryder; and Joseph Wiseman as the villainous Dr. Julius No.
From Russia With Love
Crime cartel SPECTRE, a group that would plague Bond through many of the movies, lures 007 into a trap to pay him back for the death of its operative Dr. No. The film includes arguably the greatest Bond fistfight ever between Connery and actor Robert Shaw.
Goldfinger
The title character hatches a plan to rob Fort Knox, and only Bond can stop him. Goldfinger is full of seminal Bondisms—death by gold body paint, the hat-throwing henchman Oddjob, and Pussy Galore.
Thunderball
SPECTRE steals a pair of atomic bombs and holds the world hostage, demanding 100 MILLION dollars ransom. (Mike Myers obviously watched this one a few too many times.) Thunderball would be remade as Never Say Never Again, the ‘80s-era Bond movie that saw an older Connery return to the role.
In the Midnight Hour, She Cried, “Moore, Moore, Moore”
The Bond of the ‘70s, Brit Roger Moore, brought a suave sophistication to the role of 007. He was also the first Bond in space.
Live and Let Die
It’s Bond meets Shaft as the secret agent tries to stop a plot by a heroin magnate (Yaphet Kotto) to use drugs, magic, and voodoo to bring the world to its knees. Paul McCartney’s theme song was one of the most memorable of the series.
The Man with the Golden Gun
Bond goes mano-a-mano with movie uber-villain Christopher Lee and locks Herve Villachez in a steamer trunk. What’s not to love?
The Spy Who Loved Me
The collars were wide, the hair was blow-dried, and Bond’s gadgets had never been cooler. This film featured the debut of Richard Kiel’s “Jaws” character, who would also plague 007 in the next film, the space-based Moonraker.
The Bond of Steele
Pierce Brosnan very nearly became the fourth movie Bond, but had to back out when contractual obligations kept him on NBC’s detective show Remington Steele. (The 007 role went to Timothy Dalton instead). When Dalton left, Brosnan got another chance, and he has starred in the biggest money-makers of the series. The Irish actor combines the best qualities of Connery and Moore to create the quintessential modern 007.
GoldenEye
Brosnan bowed as Bond in this sci-fi-tinged adventure (costarring Famke Janssen as the delicious Xenia Onatopp) that spawned a legendary Nintendo 64 first-person shooter. Ladykiller 007 also faced his first female boss, the new M (Dame Judi Dench).
Tomorrow Never Dies
In this movie, a media mogul created his own international crisis to boost news ratings. Martial arts star Michelle Yeoh out-kicked 007 at every turn, but ultimately could not resist his charms.
Die Another Day
The most recent Bond movie introduced Halle Barry as Jinx, an American superspy that gives 007 a run for his money. Jinx has proved so popular that there’s been talk of the character getting her own spin-off film series.
