Jungle, Cuba
Jungle is a later level in GoldenEye 007. It is located in the Cuban Jungle where the Janus Control Centre is located, and has drone guns and Jungle Commandos. After Bond and Natalya's Aeroplane is shot down by a missile, they are forced to reach the control centre on foot. However, they soon come under attack from the ruthless Xenia Onatopp, who is intent on preventing them from foiling Trevelyan's plans. After a gunfight, Xenia collapses dead at Bond's feet and he promptly continues his journey with Natalya. This mission has no music for the vast majority of it, as an ambience sound takes place, but will have the "X" version playing when fighting Xenia or escaping into the elevator.
Background
Natalya was able to find where Trevelyan and Xenia were heading: to a remote area in the jungles of Cuba. Built off of an old Soviet encampment in the area, this new secret base will be found somewhere in these hot, steamy jungles. Satellite reconnaissance has been unable to locate any installation near the coordinates recovered from the Janus computers in St. Petersburg. It seems likely that a ground search will be necessary. The CIA had provided you with a light aircraft. Underfly Janus radar and parachute in to the drop, proceed through the jungle eliminating any opposition and attempt to locate the Janus base.
Objectives
- Destroy the Drone Guns (Agent)
- Eliminate Xenia (Agent)
- Xenia: This time, Mr. Bond, the pleasure will be all mine.
- Blow Up the Ammo Dump (Secret Agent)
- Escort Natalya to Janus Base (Agent)
M Briefing
Miss Simonova will be with you on this mission. If Janus is operating a Goldeneye satellite, her computing sdefeats will be essential when you try to disable their systems. Jack Wade has given her some basic firearms training and he thinks she will be able to carry her weight in a combat situation. Be careful though, 007, remember she is not an experienced operative like yourself.
Q Branch
You’ll know you’re on the right trail if you encounter Janus troops or automated defenses. Be especially wary of their robotic drone guns. I’m give you some triggered mines for their ammo dump, try not to waste them on silly things. Oh, and look out for that Xenia woman, 007, I think she’s after you. You lucky devil.
Moneypenny
A hot date in the rainforest? With two women! Shame on you James.

Notes
The Statue is perhaps the easiest level to avoid getting defeated in. In the beginning, the Russian soldiers are no problem, just watch out for grenades. Shotgun blasts can be a real problem, but that body armor can take care of that. Be sure to learn your way around the park, losing your way makes it easier for the guards to get you.
You start off by your wrecked plane, stranded in the jungle with Natalya. do not fool around with that plane, it blows up! The guards can sometimes be hard to see in this foggy jungle. There are several drone guns positioned to support the gunman. Fortunately, you have plenty of cover in the trees. It will take several shots to take out the drone, and the drone takes a second or two to actually hit you. So hit and run. Natayla also comes along. She should be fine except for a couple danger zones. She carries a Cougar Magnum, so she is protected.
An enemy will be heading toward you. Shoot him with the PP7 and pick up his M16. (called the AR33). Shoot at the enemies as you advance forwards, using the scope for some nice snipes and picking up as much ammo as you can. It will begin to get scarce later on in the level.
A little further down (about 3-4 enemies) is a drone gun. It is a drone gun because of the VERY rapid fire, and the double sparks that appear next to each other. At the rubble, more enemies approach from the right. defeat them, then take the time to head left into the trees and pick up the body armor hiding behind the bush. Head down where the other guys came from.
About 5 or 7 more enemies are here. defeat them. Look! Another drone gun at 12 o'clock! (That means directly ahead of you). Head forwards to the rubble after it is destroyed and take the opportunity to refil on ammo. In the trees is yet another body armor. Head forward and defeat the couple of enemies here.
There is a treehouse and a drone gun. Dispatch of everything quickly and restock your ammo. It is important to have at least 2 clips here. Continue on and you see a bridge. Go over it and you hear Xenia talk to you, as well as changing music. There is a big tree. Sidestep to the right of it and whip out the scope.
Xenia should appear. Aim at the head and immediately plug as many bullets into the head as you should. Note that this is a danger zone and Natalya can get defeated by Xenia's grenades easily. Though she may shoot Xenia as well. After Xenia is dead, get her weapons and look left. Just after the bridge is a drone gun waiting to ambush you if you proceed. Take it out and then move on.
Save Xenia's grenade launcher for later. It will be handy. But continue forward until a cave on the right appears. Enter it and shoot the guards and the drone gun here. it is foggy, but you can just make out the first guard on the right. After they are dead, go up the path at the back. At the top is a ladder and two guards. defeat the two guards and ignore the ladder. Head right.
This is a danger zone, this narrow passageway. As is the next room. The enemies hold grenades and will throw them. Be sure to back off as you fire a grenade or two of your own in to damage them. Then come in and gun the rest down. Backing off saves you the damage and makes sure Natalya does not walk into them.
Head up the back area to the top. Turn left (at the VERY top and defeat the drone gun you can see here. Continue down to some boxes, then turn left. This is the last drone gun, and it was waiting to ambush you if you went up the ladder. defeat it, then use a mine to blow the crates up. This completes the weapons cache objective. Make sure they are ALL gone before turning around. If an enemy came over to you, defeat him.
Head back and left into the huge room. This is where you should fire off all your remaining mines and your grenades. As the enemies perish, move in and shoot them all. The room will receive unlimited more guys forever, so pressing forward is important. Some enemies here have grenades, so it is not the safest for your girlfriend, Natayla.
As you round the corner to the right, a crate is here. Usually an enemy is camping out behind it. defeat him. Head to the end of the hallway and enter the elevator to finish the mission.
Trivia
- There is no music in this mission, aside the ambient sound of the jungle and birds. When fighting Xenia and in the ending cutscene, however, the "X" version of the level's music will play. The original music that was supposed to be heard in the level, is not used in the final game. The aforementioned beta theme, however, can still be heard in multiplayer mode.
- The one and only speech Xenia says, when starting to attack Bond is "This time, Mr. Bond, the pleasure will be all mine." She does have another line in the previous level, however, when at the end of it and gets shot, she says "Wait for me, Alec, I'm hit!".
- This level contains several Body Armor placements in certain areas regardless of the difficulty setting.
- The unique dual RC-P90/Grenade Launcher combination is exclusive to this level. It does not appear anywhere else in the game.
- To defeat Xenia quickly, aim for her head with the AR33.
- The AR33 is the recommended weapon in the mission, due to the severe Distance Fog.
- The guard towers are inaccessible, but a ROM-hack exist to have updated guard towers so that they have ladders to climb onto.
- A glitch may occur, in which Natalya will not keep up with Bond. However, when this mission is finished with all of the objectives completed, she is still seen running with him toward the elevator.
- Rarely, apart from Natalya's first phrase in this level, "Let's go to work," she may insult the Jungle Commandos or say different phrases like: "Advantage - Natalya Simonova." She may also comment on her given weapon.
- Natalya Simonova carries the Cougar Magnum in this level and is the only character within Goldeneye 007 to do so. The magnum itself cannot be obtained without cheats; Natalya herself will not drop it even after being defeated.
Control Center, Cuba
The Janus Control Centre is the sixteenth level in Goldeneye 007. It is the second part of the seventh mission, and takes place in Cuba.
James Bond and Natalya Simonova enter the underground control center in an elevator shaft, having just descended from the surface. Bond must defeat the guards in the next room and take out the autoguns, then go back and retrieve Natalya. She will then go to a control console and open one of the doors in the room, allowing you access to other areas of the control center.
Eventually, Bond encounters Boris Grishenko. Grishenko attempts to pull a PP7 on Bond, but fumbles it and surrenders, running off once Bond turns away.
Once Bond gets Natalya inside the Control Centre, he must defend her as she reprograms the remaining Goldeneye satellite to crash. As Natalya is working, the alarm will sound and more Jungle Commandos will appear. The guards wearing the black berets wear light armor and will always target Bond, while the other reinforcements without hats or armor will always target Natalya until she is either defeated or leaves the computer desk. Beware of the fact that both types of these guards have enhanced accuracy and action speed in comparison to the other idle Jungle Commandos scattered about the level.
After Natalya is finished with the satellite, Bond sends Natalya back to the surface while he attempts to go after Trevelyan. As Bond goes for the elevator to go deeper into the Janus secret base, he encounters Trevelyan, who is in another elevator; Trevelyan will shoot at Bond and taunt him as he attempts to shoot back.
Background
The Janus Control Center has been located in an underground complex in the Cuban jungle.
Objectives
- Protect Natalya (Agent)
- Disable GoldenEye Satellite (Agent)
- Destroy the Armored Mainframes (Agent)
M Briefing
Into the lion’s den, 007. Well, just be careful. Remember that you and Miss Simonova are a team, it’s critical that you protect her while she’s hacking into the Janus computers. With any luck she’ll be able to stop the Goldeneye from firing.
Q Branch
While you’re there old boy, see if you can’t erase their databases. The details of Janus’ criminal bankrolls are stored on specifically armored mainframe units. That information is worth millions to Janus – I’m sure you’ll find some way of deleting it.
Moneypenny
You know, James, she’s not the only woman who can operate a computer.

When the level first starts
Bond: Wait here in the lift, Natalya. I'll secure the area.
Bond goes out and defeats the guards and drones before returning to the elevator to fetch Natalya
Natalya: James, you were wonderful!
The two go to a console on one of the walls, since all the doors are locked electronically
Natalya: The blast doors have been locked by the security computer. Got one open! Head for the control room, James, I'll do what I can from here.
Bond proceeds until he opens the blast door near Natalya
Natalya: I'm coming, James!
Natalya and 007 head to the main control room, where Simonova starts to fiddle with one of the computers
Natalya: The Goldeneye is set to fire on London! I'll try to override the guidance controls. If I can just get the yaw oscillation above 5 degrees. James, do you think you could be a bit quieter? I cannot hear myself think. The boundary-layer temperature stays pretty steady till re-entry. Did it! The satellite's orbit is decaying.
Bond: Get back to the surface, Natalya. I'm going after Trevelyan.
Natalya: Good luck, James, I'll be waiting for you.
When Bond finds Trevelyan in an elevator, the doors are just closing
Trevelyan: Too slow, James!
This level has one big hard part, protecting Natayla. The second hardest thing is staying alive. You have to trust in yourself and be good with a gun. Ammo is important for the Natalya protection time.
At the start, Natalya wants to wait in the elevator while you dispatch the enemy in the lobby. Go outside and strafe to the wall. There is an enemy. Shoot him. Another will come. Shoot him too.
This part is what separates this difficulty from the others. There are three strategically placed drone guns, ready to rip you apart like the soldiers on D-Day. Take them out one by one, keeping cover.
Collect the D5K's. Then turn the corner and defeat the enemies. Finally, go the end and turn left. defeat the guard by the computer. Head back to the elevator and Natalya comes with you. Go over to the computer console. do not blow it up. She will start hacking. If you head out and back to her, I find it goes quicker. Then go to the open door.
Shoot the enemy at the end of the hallway and run STRAIGHT ahead. Ignore the thing to the right. There are many enemies with SEVERAL grenades. A major danger zone. At the end is another enemy and a big stash of mines. Perfect for you. Make sure to get them or lose the map. If you hear any tinkles of something hitting the floor, back away. It will blow up. Mainly defeating the enemies, but it can hurt you thruogh the walls.
Go back to the area laden with enemies and grenades and finish whoever is left. Get the ammunition and head around the corner. There are four enemies in this reactor room. defeat them and head up the stairs on the right side of the room.
Open the door at the top and shoot the four enemies inside. One on each side of the door and two at the bottom. After they are dead, collect the ammunitions. Open the door and head onwards. Hey look! it is Boris. Ignore him. He just pulls out a PP7 and drops it. Go up the stairs to the right. Stop at the first level, do not continue up. defeat the soldiers to the right and left of you and choose a side. Go that way to the very end until you see a giant modem similar to the one below. Pull the mines out and toss one on it. do not detonate.
Go to the other side of the floor and do the same. Descend the stairs back to where Boris was and rig the two modems there. Head into the center with the computers and detonate all the bombs. BLAM! Some glass is smashed and a lot of data is lost for the enemies. Be sure not to defeat any small computers in the center.
Go up the stairs to the right and open the elevator door. Then go to the next one. Natalya opens the door and comes out. Follow her back down. You have to place yourself strategically behind her so that your back is against the center part of the glass.
C C C C N C C C C STAIRS STAIRS JB GLASSGLASSGLASS
C are computers and N is Natalya on the computer. By sitting here, you can get enemies sneaking below, enemies coming down the steps and pretty much any other situation. Ammo is of top priority here, reload WHENEVER you get the chance.
An alarm will go off. Enemies will begin to come, around 95% come down the stairs. Shoot them when they COME. Not when they are COMING. Maybe at the steps at most. Always look left and right in rythmn as fast as you can. Never leaving the spot. The enemy appearance rate is random. Sometimes I get only 3 enemies, sometimes I get tens of neverending enemies, even afterwards, usually they stop but sometimes they wont. Keep firing.
Once or twice, an enemy will appear below, shooting the glass out to get a tactical position on Natalya. If you hear the glass, immediately find him and shoot him. No matter what. defeat the other enemies after. But be sure to defeat them as much as possible. The only time you leave the spot is to refill your D5K Deutsche ammo. After Natalya is done, follow her back up until she goes back to where she came from.
Head back down the stairs and to the opposite end. There is an elevator door here. Open it and IMMEDIATELY find cover to the left or right. There will be a magical THREE drone guns and THREE infantry enemies. defeat them on strafing runs and get inside. There is a single mainframe in the area, blow it up and leave. Head straight to the right and open the blast door.
There is an enemy ahead of you and one to the left. As well as a big glass box. Use a mine and blow the box and the mainframe behind it. This completes the objective. We are ready to find Alec. Head forward and out the door.
Make your way to the big area by the boxes. If you want, you can see Trevelyan by heading to the right side of the area and looking at his elevator. If not, then simply turn to the left and go to the closed one on the other side. Exit through the elevator. This last big area is the biggest struggle for your life so far.
Trivia
- This is the only level where enemy appearances increase in difficulty. In Secret and 00 agent difficulties, Drone Guns are added, unlike regular Agent. This is a substitute for not adding more objectives in this level as difficulty increased.
- The level for this mission, like various other GoldenEye 007 levels/missions, had been recreated in various other titles, such as Counter-Strike, Quake, Doom and other.
- Boris runs to a small barred room and disappears after you encounter him. If you follow him, he will lead you to some body armor.
- If you turn on the cheats Turbo mode and Slow animation, you can get locked in the lift with Alec while he tries to escape; the only way to leave the lift is when the guards open the door to shoot you.
- If Boris is defeated before meeting up with Natalya, Natalya will refuse to reprogram the GoldenEye satellite and the mission will fail. However, the only time the game checks if Boris is alive is when the door to Natalya is opened; it is possible, if the level is played fast enough, to return to Boris and shoot him without failing the mission.
- If the Golden Gun is equipped, Alec can be defeated prior to his elevator doors closing with around three shots to center mass. It should be done from a distance as getting too close will trigger an arrogant escape.
- Although it is not a multiplayer-playable level, its layout is quite suitable for multiplayer play. This level is available on GoldenEye Forever.
Water Caverns, Cuba
The Subterranean Caverns is the seventeenth and semifinal level in GoldenEye 007. The Caverns take place underground. Bond will walk on catwalks above water there and solid ground, as well. There is a swirling ledge thats leads up to a room. There is also a hidden way to the outlet pump controls behind some lockers in an arms cache. The guards are Janus Special Forces and they carry AR33s and ZMGs. Bond is required to get security cards for certain doors. When Bond finally finds Trevelyan again (he will be encountered when Bond first step off of the elevator; you will not find him again until you are near the end of the level), he runs to an elevator and escapes in the elevator that takes him to Cradle.
Background
The Janus Control Center communicates with the Goldeneye weapons system via a large satellite dish which is usually concealed underwater. The pumps which will allow Janus to flood the communications dish are housed in a subterranean cave complex defended by crack Janus troops.
Objectives
- Destroy the Inlet Pump Controls (Secret Agent)
- Destroy the Outlet Pump Controls (Secret Agent)
- Destroy the Master Control Console (Secret Agent)
- Use the Radio to Contact Jack Wade (00 Agent)
- Bond finds a radio next to some explosive barrels and radios Wade from his position
- Wade: Got your bearings Jimbo! Me and my boys are on our way.
- Minimize Scientist Casualties (Agent)
M Briefing
Don’t jeopardize the mission by going for the man, Bond – nobody needs a dead hero. You’ll be on your own but CIA combat support will be waiting. Find a radio and inform Jack Wade of the exact location of the dish and he’ll send in the cavalry.
Q Branch
The satellite communications dish is exposed. If you remove the water pumps, Janus will be unable to hide it again. Destroy the servo control consoles close to the pumps and be sure to disable the master console.
Moneypenny
Doing a pot of spelunking? Well, don’t mess your trousers up, James.
Weapons
- PP7 Special Issue
- ZMG (9mm) (Bond starts with it instead of the PP7)
- Timed Mine
- Hand Grenade
- DD44 Dostovei (Provoked Scientists.)
- US AR33 Assault Rifle (A hidden crate releases Dual Wielding for this weapon)
- RC-P90 (Possible dual-wield by enemies after Trevelyan disappears into the elevator in the end of the level)
- Automatic Shotgun (Trevelyan has such, but does not use it. However, it is possible to find enemies with this weapon after he disappears into the elevator in the end of the level)
Secret weapon
In the room with the Master Control Console (the big room) run over to the right side of the room. There is a special wooden box against the wall. Shoot it, and another box will pop out. Repeat this, and two boxes will fall out. Shoot each one, and you will find two televisions. Shoot each one, and find 2 AR33s.
There is also extra ammo hidden here, every single box in the caverns has either ammo for a ZMG, or an AR33.
Important Items
- Code Cards (3)
Body Armor
2 (The one by the first pump is Agent Only, the one in the big room is Secret Agent Only)
Enemies
- Janus Special Forces
- Scientist (If provoked on difficulties higher than Agent.)
- Autoguns
- Alec Trevelyan (Boss. However, he is in a rush, and thus does not actually attack Bond in this mission.)
Notes
The Caverns in a big level. The bigger a level is, the more enemies there are in it. that is why most 00 Agents tend to run low on ammo. To avoid this, frequently switch between the ZMG (or RCP-90) and the Assault rifle. Try blowing up the wooden boxes with your mines to get the ammo inside.
Four to five guards will be in your immediate presence, defeat them, and try not to get touched. it is possible. Then just follow the path the only way you can. you will pass through two doors before being able to veer off the beaten path. Go downstairs to an area with two computers, a scientist or two, and some ammo boxes. Blow these up the computers, and then the boxes, for ammo. There is a pathway to another similar area; you can take it or the stairs, both lead to the same place. There are two main computer set-ups down there as well. Blow them up, and objective A will be met. Make sure not to hit any scientists.
you will come to an opening. It leads to what seems like the bottom of the entire cavern. There should be a guard or two, so defeat them off. A winding path leads in a spiral fashion along the right side. Take this path (there aren't any other choices anyway). Knock out about three military personnel along the way. At the top is a guard and a door. From this door, a handful of soldiers will emerge. Stand back, wait until they show up, and then blow them the pieces. Make sure to stand back and off to the side to stay unhit.
A circular cave with a central pillar and about three to four guards and lots of ammo boxes are next. Nail all of these guys and grab some ammo. Follow the path until you have a choice of going down some stairs to your right or continue upstairs. Go down the stairs and run straight down the hallway defeating everyone until you reach the end. Guards will shoot at you, so turn back and go back up the stars you descended. Run along the top of the bridgeway blowing everyone away.
you will reach an entrance, but do not go inside yet. Retrace your steps to the very door that led you into this area in the first place, and then walk down the stairs and do a 180 degree turn. Follow this new path around until you get to a cavern with lockers in it. The lockers will be on your right side. Blow up the lockers. Behind them is a secret path to another cavern. Lockers on the other side will block your path, and you will have to blast them, and unfortunately draw attention to your arrival. You should have two ZMGs. Use them to blast through the second set of lockers. Guards on the other side will take note of all this racket, so be prepared when you arrive to shoot at anything that moves. There are initially about three. Two to three more join in from a stone staircase on the left.
Once the area is generally clear (note: if you stay in one place too long, more soldiers will come), you will see a big pump on the left, surrounded by two computer consoles. Blow these consoles up and the one to the left of the secret entrance, and objective B will be met.
Walk up the stairs carefully. No one should be in sight. That should worry you. To your right is an automatic machine gun and two guards. Move out about a foot quickly to get the guards' attention and then quickly move back down the stairs. If done sdefeatfully, the machine gun will not react. The guards will come to you, and you will defeat them. When the coast is clear, angle slightly to the right so that you can hit the big gun. Make note of the locked door to the right for which you will need a key for it). Take the door to the left, instead. You have to carefully clear the guards from the paths. Wipe them out and you should pick up a few security cards along the way.
You will next approach an opening guarded by two soldiers with sunglasses and berets. These guys have RC-P90s and carry code cards B and C. you are near the heart. defeat them but do not enter the doors behind them. you are about to enter the radio room. You must not make any big explosions that could destroy the radio. Take a look around real quickly and then pull out. There are a few guards inside, one with a RC-P90 to your right, as well as a piece of body armor on the crate. Go through the first door, open the second and peek around. defeat any stray guards and back out. Do this until you are sure no one is left but the RC-P90 guy on your right. In the distance are the radio, scientists, and three soldiers who stand right in front of explosive barrels. They can easily shoot at you from the right, so shimmy to the far left wall and turn around from where you came. The RC-P90 guy will start shooting, and to need to take him down from where you stand. Use the leaning technique to peg each of those three soldiers near the radio. Use the site on the rifle, too. Once the area is clear, go to the control room and radio intelligence. After you have send your signal, put a timed bomb on the explosive barrels, and another objective is met (Objective C).
Go back to the room with the strange blue door you couldn't open. You should have picked up a key to open it. Two guards will be waiting for you on the other side. defeat them. Go through the next door on your left, the exit. Janus will appear and say something like, "Too slow, eh, James?" Then an automatic machine gun on the ceiling will start blasting you. defeat it as fast as possible and enter that area because visitors will appear behind you. Run through that tunnel, find the elevator, and you are out.
Trivia
- If you wait where Trevelyan enters the elevator long enough, dangerous respawning guards with dual wielding RC-P90s and Automatic Shotguns will appear to take Bond down.
- If you have the Invincibility and Turbo Mode cheats on and chase Trevelyan to the elevator, you will see he actually disappears rather than entering the elevator. This is likely a design oversight.
- An Easter Egg exists in this level: If you shoot a certain crate, it will explode before ejecting a smaller crate, which will-upon being shot-release an even smaller crate. The process repeats until two computers come out. Then blow up the computers to get double AR33s. It is in the room with the radio to contact Jack Wade, at the glass to Bond's right upon entering.
- When entering the room with the radio to contact Jack Wade, it is recommended to carefully shoot the Janus Special Forces quickly, because one purposely may throw a Hand Grenade to blow up themselves, scientist, and the radio, costing you failed objectives.
- Like Facility and Archives, the multiplayer version of Caverns draws the entire Caverns single player map but renders around half of the level inaccessible with a locked door. Using a cheating device, it is possible to configure a weapon to destroy doors and access the rest of the map; everything is present, but there are no weapon spawns, ammo crates, or scenery objects in the normally inaccessible parts of the level.
- Trevelyan carries an Automatic Shotgun in this level, but he never uses it. Data in Trevelyan's action block however shows that the developers originally planned to have him open fire at Bond at some point during the level, but for some unknown reason programmed the action block to do otherwise.
- The background music for this mission is the longest in the game.
- Including unarmed slappers, this level contains the most weapons in the game with 9, also containing the most dual wielding weapons with 3.
Antenna Cradle, Cuba
Bond's final showdown with Alec Trevelyan, and the end of GoldenEye's main storyline, takes place on the Antenna Cradle. This is the 18th and final mainline level.
The Cradle is a large radio antenna suspended over a massive dish built into the ground. The structure is supported by three pylons, which (in the film) can be retracted into the ground to conceal the antenna inside of the dish, which is usually flooded with water. This prevented the CIA from knowing of the GoldenEye control centre's existence. There are two shed-like structures on the second level of the cradle, and these house machinery used for aligning the antenna. As well as this, they also contain a backup control console; seeing as Natalya had previously sent the GoldenEye's path of alignment off course, Trevelyan uses this control console in an attempt to send another firing command to the satellite. However, the antenna must be realigned first, giving Bond the time he needs to destroy the console. The third level of the cradle structure has another shed, this one leading to an extremely small platform hanging over the dish. This platform is where Bond and Trevelyan's final shots will be exchanged, and if either one of them falls off the edge at this point, they will plunge a long way to their doom while the other watches from the platform.
The guards found on this level wear various armor and the color of their beret shows their level of lethality. The black berets wield a single ZMG (9mm) and may toss grenades on occasion. While still dangerous due to the accuracy and action speed increase from their action block, they are the least imposing with 50% accuracy. Red berets wield dual ZMGs and have 60% extra accuracy. The blue berets also dual wield ZMGs just like the red berets, but have 80% extra accuracy, making them the most threatening of Trevelyan's personal guard. These guards will constantly pursue Bond, trying to protect Trevelyan and the satellite control console.
Background
Janus control communications have been jammed and the Goldeneye satellite orbit is decaying. Only Trevelyan and his personal bodyguard remain unaccounted for.
Objectives
- Destroy the Control Console (Agent)
- Settle the Score with Trevelyan (Agent)
M Briefing
You know my feelings about personal vendettas interfering with mission success, 007. However, in this case, I think we can turn a blind eye to whatever happens out there. Be careful, and remember, – you are licensed to defeat.
Q Branch
Would you believe it, 007? There’s another blasted control thingy actually on the antenna cradle. Trevelyan might be able to realign the antenna and get one last firing message through to the satellite. Get out there and destroy it! We don’t things going pear-shaped at the last minute.
Moneypenny
The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world, James. You know I won’t sleep soundly until you get back to England in one piece.

Trevelyan: I was always better, James.
The two finally meet up on a hanging platform at the bottom of the cradle. Bond shoots Alec first, sending him plumetting off the side
Alec: For England, James?
Bond: No. For me.
A helicopter comes to rescue James and it flies off. Mission and storyline complete. However, there are two optional places that can be explored, too. I'll do those as well, but are fairly short anyway.
The main principles of beating this level are rather simple, ol' chap. 1. Find the computer console that controls the satellite dish and destroy it. 2. Follow closely behind Trevelyan once you find him. He will run from you the entire level, occasionally stopping to shoot or double back. By staying as close to him, you will reach your goal faster, which to settle the score.
You start off on a cul-de-sac wing. Back up to your left and pick up a piece of body armor and then run forward along the hanging bridge in front of you. Pick the center of the path with your PP7 and, without using the site, start shooting. You will hit an enemy soldier running toward you. Pick up his two ZMGs and keep running, because at the top of the wing are at least three more soldiers just like him. defeat them and grab their guns. Turn left, run to the staircase to the center platform, and descend. Half way to the first descending staircase you will discover Trevelyan has set the auto destruct to explode. You have three minutes to turn it off.
That at least helps to set your priorities straight. So, go to the first platform, making sure to defeat the single guard, take the staircase on the left down to the lower platform, and you will see two shacks. Go left; the computer console is in it. The door will be open. There are at least two guards, each packing.
Be careful not to enter right away. Trick the soldiers to come out by running in front of the door and then getting out of the way. An automatic machine gun is aimed at the door. When you are ready, point your gun up, target, and blast away. Another auto machine gun is inside. It will not set be set off until you are more than half way in. Step in about three steps and shoot the remaining guys, if there are any. Always check your back, too. New soldiers will run down the steps when you are not looking.
A giant piece of machinery is to your left; behind it is the computer console. You should have more than a minute left. Blow the second turret up and then hustle to the other side of the machine. you will see the computer console. Shoot it to stop the antennae and the cradle from blowing up. Objective A is achieved.
Trevelyan is next. A few more guards will approach you from the door you entered. defeat them, and get used to taking a little bit of damage. You need a body vest. Leave the shack from he door you entered and go to the other shack, which is nearly identical inside. Swing around the machine and pick up the body armor.
Head back to the other shack. Settling the score with Trevelyan means that you chase him across the entire cradle at least once. The biggest trick to this chase is to stay as close as possible to him. He'll run around the cradle at least twice if you are decent. He stops inside the shack, at the bottom of the staircase beneath the shack, and at the top of the cradle to shoot at you.
He will eventually run to the very bottom of the cradle, to the antennae. He drops down to the antennae platform, a mere 10 feet across, and then sneak up on you. Get out your biggest, fastest gun (duh, the ZMG), and make sure it is fully loaded before you jump down. He starts shooting. Reply with as many shots as fast as possible. you will have to knock him off the antennae to win this battle (or settle the score, as the game says). If you are left standing and he falls off, you win the battle and beat the game.
You can beat the game on the medium and hard levels if you dare. By beating the 18th level in the most difficult mode, you will open up the 19th level. If you beat the 19th level, you will open up the 20th level. If you beat that in the most difficult level, you will open up the 007 mode, enabling you to modify enemy control, like health, accuracy, etc.
Trivia
- The real life Arecibo Observatory and the Telescope no longer exist. On December 1st, 2020, its telescope collapsed after withstanding many years of hurricanes, earthquakes, and an ever shrinking budget leading to a lack of maintenance, still seeing active use in radio astrology until its very last day.
- The Cradle is based on the discontinued Arecibo Observatory, the world's largest radio telescope until 2016. The most obvious change is that the Goldeneye Cradle has three walkways extending from the tops of the support towers, while the real antenna has only one which extends from the base of the north tower to the central platform. This is presumably a change made for the cut multiplayer version of the map, as the two additional walkways have little function in singleplayer (guards spawn here and run to the main portion of the structure).
- The lower platform in the movie is further down and the platform at the base too small to stand up on; these were changed in the game due to engine limits in the former case and the need to have a final confrontation in the latter.
- The Cradle was originally supposed to have a multiplayer variant, but it was cut because of the performance issues. It can still be accessed through a Gameshark.
- In the Goldeneye movie, Alec is trying to catch up with Bond, while in the game Bond is chasing Alec.
- Also, in the movie version only Bond and Trevelyan are present on the actual antenna, while in the game, there are bodyguards trying to stop Bond.
- In the game, it is not possible to see the ground. In multiplayer, if the player falls off the platform, they will fall to the "ground", which is really the bottom of the skybox.
- The Cradle makes an appearance in Goldeneye: Rogue Agent as a multiplayer level, called Critical.
- In the level, Trevelyan does not take damage, unless he stops and starts shooting at you. However, In some cases, shooting him may not inflict damage on him, and he will start running again. In this case, if you shoot him again, he will actually take damage, and it will be seen and heard and says his speech text.
