Description
Just when you thought it was safe for you and your friends to celebrate Wizpig's defeat, ol' bacon-breath had to crash your party. He may have rocketed back to his home planet, but that doesn't mean your racing days are over. He invaded your world; now it is your turn to invade his. Race through his futuristic sci-fi planet to settle the score.
Future Fun Land
Spacedust Alley, Future Fun Land
Spacedust Alley is the seventeenth track in the game Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. It is the first track of the fifth world, Future Fun Land. The default vehicle for this track is the Plane.
- Requirement(s): 39 Golden Balloon (regular course)
43 Golden Balloons (Coin Challenge course) - Vehicle Type(s): Car, Hovercraft, and Plane
Spacedust Alley is the first course of Future Fun Land, the seventeenth main race track, and the twenty-second course overall in Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS.
The player needs a total of 39 Golden Balloons to open this course (37 in the remake), and later 43 for its Silver Coin challenge (or 42 for its Balloon Touch Challenge in the Nintendo DS remake). The stage's default vehicle is planes, but racers can use Cars or Hovercrafts after completing the course twice or via Time Trials. The official Diddy Kong Racing website suggested racing as Tiptup on this track.
Course Layout
The course starts with a meteor bouncing around, as the player drives their plane across the landscape, passing through zippers and also avoiding trees. The player then enters a tunnel, that has some electrical beams that spin a character out if they collide with it. The tunnel leads to a small grassy area with one of Wizpig's spaceships. The spaceship tries to shoot the player, and they spin out if they are hit by one of the laser beams. The track then goes back into a tunnel, before leading to an open area with a fork in the road, where the player may either take a bridge or go under it, with both ways having a zipper. Both roads lead into a cave, with several rock formations, before the player exits the cave and crosses the finish line.
In the Nintendo DS remake, the track mainly remains the same as the original, although Wizpig's ship is a bit easier to avoid. Trees in the beginning are also replaced by lighthouses, and the music is changed to the theme from Spaceport Alpha.
Coin Challenge Locations
The coins only appear after player has beaten Wizpig for the first time.
- Slightly to the right of the first zipper
- On the ground, in the centre of the path, just beyond the second air zipper
- At the top of the tunnel between the first two electric lines
- To the far right of the area with the shooting ship by some trees
- In between the two electric conductors, in the air between the electric currents
- In the center of the balloons just before the starting line
- The same as #4, but to the left
- In the entrance to the tunnel of the shortcut
Darkmoon Caverns, Future Fun Land
Darkmoon Caverns is the eighteenth track in the game Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. It is the second track of the fifth world, Future Fun Land. The default vehicle for this track is the Car.
- Requirement(s): 40 Golden Balloons (regular course),
44 Golden Balloons (Coin Challenge course) - Vehicle Type(s): Car and Hovercraft
Darkmoon Caverns is the second course of Future Fun Land, the eighteenth main race track, and is the twenty-third overall course in the games Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS.
Unlocking the course requires a total of 40 Golden Balloons (39 in the remake), and later 44 for its Silver Coin challenge (or 43 for its Balloon Touch Challenge in the Nintendo DS remake). The stage's default vehicle is Cars, but racers can use Hovercrafts after completing the course twice or via Time Trials. The official Diddy Kong Racing website suggested racing as Diddy on this track.
The track has two huge loops akin to those in Walrus Cove (one bluish silver and the other red), although instead of having zippers at the bottom of the slide, they are zippers in themselves. The course seems to be have been battered by Wizpig's spaceships, as there are craters everywhere. Some areas have Wizpig's spaceships shooting at the ground.
Course Layout
The course starts with a left turn, followed by a short tunnel lit by blinking red arrows on the ceiling. The road continues with a right curve which is heavily under fire by a laser. Players must avoid getting hit by swerving around it. Another short tunnel leads the racers to a section with two craters. These obstacles are avoided best following the right part of the section to take advantage of a dash panel. The track continues with a left turn into an S-shaped tunnel which is again lit by blinking red arrows.
After the tunnel, players drive down a rightward corkscrew section of the track, all the while trying to dodge more barrages of the lasers. What follows is a tunneled right curve and then a left turn into a technologically paved area where the racers enter a series of loops. Immediately after the first one the players enter a short tunnel, which consists of a mound and a sharp left turn into the other loop. After this second loop, a final tunnel section going to the right leads them to the finish line.
In the Nintendo DS remake, the spaceships are removed, and the track is much easier. The music is also slightly changed, possessing more high-tech sounds.
Coin Challenge Locations
The coins only appear after player has beaten Wizpig for the first time.
- In the middle of the track following the first left-hand turn.
- On the left side of the curve in the laser area.
- On the right side of the tunnel, after the dash panel.
- In the middle of the road after exiting the tunnel.
- In between the two craters.
- On the left side of the corkscrew section, just as it begins.
- At the entrance of the first loop.
- At the entrance of the second loop.
Spaceport Alpha, Future Fun Land
Spaceport Alpha is the nineteenth track in the game Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. It is the third track of the fifth world, Future Fun Land. The default vehicle for this track is the Car.
- Requirement(s): 41 Golden Balloons (regular course),
45 Golden Balloons (Coin Challenge course) - Vehicle Type(s): Car, Hovercraft, and Plane
Spaceport Alpha is the third track of Future Fun Land, the nineteenth main race track, and the twenty-fourth overall course in Diddy Kong Racing and its Nintendo DS remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. The track requires 41 Gold Balloons to be unlocked (40 in the remake), but, once the track and the world boss are completed, it takes 45 balloons to play it again with the Silver Coin Challenge (44 to play the Balloon Touch Challenge in the Nintendo DS remake). The plane is the standard vehicle for this course, but the car and hovercraft can also be used after it is completed twice or in Time Trials. The official Diddy Kong Racing website suggested racing as Conker on this track.
The course is set inside a large spaceport full of many high-tech devices. The course features two large rooms, one of which has a giant 64 on its floor (referencing the Nintendo 64). The track also features a powerful fan that can push the racers up through a narrow passage in a tunnel, along with a long room full of roadblocks and lasers.
In the Nintendo DS version of the game, Spaceport Alpha features several differences. While the course is set up in a very similar way, the second large room after the fan has a DS sign printed on its floor, instead of a 64, to reference the Nintendo DS. The lasers have also been removed, and the music has been replaced by a more high-tech theme, with the original theme being used for Spacedust Alley.
Course Layout
The track begins in a wide area. A small alcove in the wall to the right of the starting line holds a Power-Up Token, and four Item Balloons are placed farther ahead where the road becomes slightly skinnier. Another room is located after a small tunnel, and it features a small road for those driving cars. Around this thin road, the ground becomes slanted, and some Item Balloons and Power-Up Tokens are placed on it. Several gadgets are shown on the wall to the left, as well as a few pictures of Wizpig's head. A Zipper is located at the exit of a room, leading to a wide, empty room with arrows and windows on its walls. The arrows point to a narrow tunnel. The tunnel curves downwards, so racers in planes who do not travel straight down can easily run into the wall. At the bottom of the tunnel, a fan can be reached that pushes all racers back up through the other end of the tunnel. There is another large, empty room at the end of the tunnel, and it has a DS sign painted on its floor and some arrows pointing to another room on its walls.
Large windows are also around the walls with electrical currents going across them. In the next room, the walls are painted red, and arrows point to the exit of the small room to the right. A straight pathway makes up the next area, which is full of many large roadblocks, which are placed along the walls and in the center of the ground. Lasers also shoot from the walls in the original version of the game. Additionally, there is a variety of Item Balloons scattered place-to-place, as well as a few Zippers near the walls. At the end of the long room, a narrow tunnel is placed to the right. The round tunnel consists of a wall full of several shades of blue and some Item Balloons. The tunnel continues into a long control-room like area. On the windows to the left of the long room, one can see the outside of the spaceport into space. Some car Zippers are located along the ground of the area, along with a Power-Up Token and some Item Balloons. Outside of the tunnel is another car Zipper, taking racers to another wide area. Bananas (or Rareware Coins in the DS version) line up along the walls here, and to the left of this area is the finish line.
Coin Challenge Locations
The coins only appear after player has beaten Smokey the Dragon for the first time. To compete in the Coin Challenge, the player needs a total of 30 Golden Balloons to reenter the course.
- Placed near the wall on the right before the player enters the second room.
- On the ground in the second room near a green wall.
- Before heading up through a tunnel on a strong gust of wind, the racers pass the third coin.
- In the middle of the large room after the vertical tunnels.
- To the left of a roadblock near the beginning of the straight room full of lasers.
- In the same room as the fifth coin, the sixth coin is located to the right of the area after a Zipper.
- Immediately before the round, blue tunnel.
- In the center of the exit of the blue tunnel.
Star City, Future Fun Land
Star City is the twentieth track in the game Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. It is the fourth track of the final world, Future Fun Land. The default vehicle for this track is the Car.
- Requirement(s): 42 Golden Balloons (regular course),
46 Golden Balloons (Coin Challenge course) - Vehicle Type(s): Car, Hovercraft, and Plane
Star City is the fourth and final course in Future Fun Land, the twentieth and final main race track, and the twenty-fifth overall course in the game Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. 42 Golden Balloons is the total needed to open this course (41 in the remake), and then 46 for its Silver Coin challenge (or 45 for the Balloon Touch Challenge in the Nintendo DS remake). Cars are the standard vehicle for this track, but Hovercrafts and Planes can be used upon completing the course twice or in Time Trials. The official Diddy Kong Racing website suggested racing as Diddy on this track.
Course Layout
The course begins with the player entering a rainbow colored tunnel before coming out onto a long, curved bridge. If the player falls off this bridge they will have to go all the way around to get back on it again otherwise they will encounter a dead-end. In the DS version instead of a dead-end there is a small tunnel that will get the player into the city. At the end of the bridge is a city area surrounded by rotating rings (a fountain in the Nintendo DS game version), this city area contains many sharp turns.
Coin Challenge Locations
Like other levels, Star City is filled with eight Silver Coins, scattered all around the area.
- On the bridge immediately after the first zipper after exiting the rainbow tunnel.
- In the center of the bridge as it transitions into the city area.
- Next to a zipper leading up to the first sharp turn in the city.
- On a zipper at the second turn in the city.
- On the far corner of the fifth turn.
- On the far corner of the sixth turn.
- In the center of the road as the city area transitions back into the starting line.
