Star Wars: Rogue Squadron - Chapter III
Chapter III: The New Threat
With the rescue of Wedge Antilles and Rogue Squadron at full strength, the Rebel Alliance turns its attention to a new Imperial threat—Moff Kohl Seerdon.
Preparing to capture Thyferra, with its precious supply of the healing bacta, Seerdon is now consolidating his power for a massive attack. His success could very well break the fledgling Rebellion and surely doom the galaxy to Imperial rule.
Luke Skywalker and Rogue Squadron are assigned to disrupt his operations with swift hit-and-run missions against key targets such as the Imperial mining operation near Taloraan...
1. Battle above Taloraan, Chapter III
A mix in the terrain, that is, the lack of it. Here, more freedoms are given for flight, which can be challenging as much as it is an advantage. Dogfighting is key in this mission.
Briefing
In this high-altitude mission, you will be flying in the cloudy atmosphere of Taloraan, an enormous gas planet with a strong magnetic field in the Kelavine system of the Expansion Region. The planet's tibanna is breathable at high altitudes, and is also used in the production of weapons.
Description
In the skies above taloraan, fight the empire for control of the tibanna gas platforms, but be careful not to harm the civilian operations there!
Mission Objectives
- Locate and destroy the Imperial tibanna gas containers
- Avoid civilian casualties
Requirements for Gold
- Completion Time: 7:00
- Enemies Destroyed: 90
- Accuracy: 70%
- Friendly Saves: 1
- Bonus Collected: 1 (Advanced Blasters)
Default Craft
A-Wing
Optional Craft
X-Wing
Bonus
Advanced Lasers
The battle above Taloraan took place during the Galactic Civil War. Following the rescue of Wedge Antilles, which brought the elite Rebel starfighter squadron Rogue Squadron to its full potential, the Rebellion began to target Imperial property under the command of Moff Kohl Seerdon, who was in the process of consolodating his forces to launch an attack on the Rebel's bacta supply on Thyferra.
The first target of these hit and run missions was Taloraan, where the Empire ran tibanna gas mining operations to power their blasters. Rogue Squadron destroyed the Empire's supply of tibanna gas canisters stored in floating platforms, and dealt as much damage possible to the local TIE/LN starfighter squadron stationed on the planet.
Prelude
During an assault on the Imperial spaceport situated in the canyons of the planet Kile II, Wedge Antilles, member of Rogue Squadron, was shot down and taken by the Empire as a prisoner of war to the spice prisons of Kessel. In the absence of Wedge's remarkable piloting skills, Rogue group's potential was greatly diminished. Luke Skywalker, commander of Rogue Squadron and a close friend of Antilles, led Rogue group to Kessel, where they saved Antilles and several other Rebel prisoners.
With Rogue Squadron once again at its maximum strength, the group's efforts were beginning to be aimed at the Imperial Moff Kohl Seerdon. Seerdon was plotting to consolidate his forces to lead a large scale attack on the Rebel bacta supply on the jungle world Thyferra. Bacta, a chemical used to treat the wounded, was essential, and the Rebellion began their efforts to inflict damage to the Moff's resources in a series of hit and run attacks on various Imperial installations. The first target of these hit and run missions was the gas giant Taloraan, which housed the Moff's tibanna gas mining programs, which was used to power Imperial weapons.
Taloraan was chosen as the mining operation center due to it having among the highest-quality Tibanna gas in the galaxy, and planned to overrun the harvest facilities while otherwise letting civilian operations continue. They also augmented the local squadrons guarding the tanks by including various TIEs, largely because of the newfound importance of Tibanna gas to the Imperial war machine, and it was expected to fall under Imperial control by 2 ABY if it didn't experience any problems.
It is projected that disrupting the Empire's mining operation would not only curb Imperial expansion within the Kelavine system, but also set back the Empire's weapons program by at least three months. Because the Empire was unable to figure out a way to implement shields on their own Tibanna gas canisters (which could ignite if hit by a single blaster bolt), they compensated for the lack of shields by implementing strategically placed compact turbolasers on the various platforms.
The battle
Since the tibanna gas interfered with Rogue group's A-wing starfighters, the scanners installed on the starfighters were recalibrated to Seven-Mark-Nine. As there were numerous gas canisters owned by civilian organizations installed in the same platforms as the Imperial owned gas, their fire was to remain in check. By the time they reached the fourth platform, Rogue Squadron used seeker missiles to take out the turbolaser defenses in order to ensure their success in destroying the Imperial gas containers at minimum risk.
After taking out several platforms of Imperial gas, a squadron of TIE fighters began to swarm Rogue Squadron from below, a standard Imperial maneuver used on gas giants. Due to knowledge of this tactic by Kasan Moor, a former TIE interceptor pilot who defected to the Rebellion, Rogue group avoided the ambush and continued to a floating city, where the last target was situated. During their raid on the last platform, Skywalker broke off and proceeded to retrieve some advanced blasters that were situated within Taloraan City's town square.
Aftermath
After Rogue Flight's mission was accomplished, Wedge Antilles speculated that the local Imperial governor would be afraid to report his failure to his superior, Moff Seerdon. Kasan Moor speculated that the governor would not live through this confrontation with Seerdon, as the Moff had a notorious reputation for being unforgiving.
During the operations on Taloraan, a Rebel commando force infiltrated Seerdon's research facility on Fest, and attempted to escape with a group of three stolen AT-PT walkers. Immediately after their victory on Taloraan, Rogue Squadron was deployed to provide support.
Strategy Guide
Your mission here is simple: take out the Imperial gas containers that rest on the floating platforms above Taloraan. Most containers require only 3 or 4 shots, but you might find the odd one that is reinforced and requires more.
As you progress through the level the platforms will have more and more Turbolasers protecting them. Be sure to take these out, as well as any TIE Fighters flying about. If you do not, they will be gunning for civilian containers, as well as the Blockade Runner, which is your 1 Friendly Save for your Gold Medal.
Once you reach the floating city, watch out for a TIE Interceptor, whose sole purpose is to knock you out of the sky. When that's taken care of, head for the city while applying the brakes, aiming for the center. Here you will find your next Bonus, Advanced Lasers. you will have to drop down, pick it up, then quickly pull up to avoid the surrounding buildings.
Then follow your radar to the nearby platform, take out the remaining containers, and your mission is complete.
Tips
The biggest obstacle in the way of your Gold Medal on this mission is time. You only have 7 minutes, but you have to achieve 90 enemies destroyed as well as your mission objectives. Be careful not to hit civilian containers; hit too many and your mission is a failure. Be as quick as you can about taking out containers and TIEs, and quickly proceed to the next container. If you haven't taken out many targets around the platforms, wait for the squadron of TIEs before you reach the city and pick them off. Use your fire sparingly, as a 70% accuracy rate is also required for the Gold Medal.
2. Escape from Fest, Chapter III
A notoriously difficult level where players must take on AT-AT, TIE fighters, and TIE bombers, all the while protecting a trio of extremely fragile rogue AT-PTs.
Briefing
This mission takes you to a planet in the Atrivis sector of the Outer Rim near the Mantooine system. Enormous, steep mountains and valleys punctuate Fest's landscape. Atop one of these mountains, the Empire has a top secret Weapons Research Facility, where experiments are conducted to create new metal alloys. Among the inhabitants of Fest are a resistance group who opposes the Empire.
Description
During the Taloraan operation, a team of rebel commandoes stole several AT-PTs from an imperial base on fest. Unfortunately, their escape did not proceed as well as they expected.
Mission Objectives
- Locate Captured AT-PTs
- Destroy Imperial Research Facility
- Free the AT-PTs
- Escort Rebel AT-PTs to the Landing Zone
Requirements for Gold
- Completion Time: 6:30
- Enemies Destroyed: 65
- Accuracy: 25%
- Friendly Saves: 7
- Bonus Collected: 1
Default Craft
Airspeeder
Bonus
Seeker Proton Torpedoes
The Escape from Fest, also known as the raid on Fest, was a ground battle between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire that took place during the Galactic Civil War. The battle was initially an Alliance Special Forces mission to steal three All Terrain Personal Transports from the Imperial research lab on Fest. When their cover was blown and the squad was trapped, Rogue Squadron intervened and extracted them safely.
Prelude
While the Taloraan operation was taking place, a team of Rebel commandos attacked an Imperial Weapons Research Facility on Fest and liberated a squad of AT-PT walkers. The AT-PTs attempted to make their escape, with Imperial troops and armor in pursuit. However, they soon found themselves trapped as the main gate of the complex was raised, cutting them off from their escape route.
The Battle
Rogue Squadron deployed to Fest to aid in the escape immediately after completing their mission at Taloraan. The Rogues split up to simultaneously bring down the main gate, as well as to cover the commandos' retreat. When the AT-PTs were liberated, the squadron aided them in blasting their way through the Imperial defenses. In a fierce battle against Imperial AT-ATs and XR-85 tank droids, the Rogues and the commandos successfully punched their way through to the landing zone.
In a final attempt to stop the AT-PTs, the Imperials sent in a wave of TIE/sa bombers to carpet-bomb the walkers. The Rogues managed to repulse this final attack as well, allowing the commandos to reach the safety of the Rebel's Y-4 Raptor-class transport.
When the commandos were away, the squadron turned back to finish off the Fest research facility. After attacking the DSS-02 shield generator situated in an outlying outpost and bringing down the protective shield, the Rogues razed the building with concentrated fire. During the bombardment, Rogue Squadron did a detour to retrieve seeker proton torpedoes in close proximity to the research facility proper.
Aftermath
Moff Kohl Seerdon was infuriated by the incident, and in retaliation blockaded Chandrila, Mon Mothma's home planet.
Behind the scenes
The Escape from Fest appears in a level of the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, the player is required to use the harpoon and tow cable of a T-47 airspeeder against an AT-AT in order to complete the mission successfully. As the Battle of Fest takes place in the timeline prior to the Battle of Hoth, during which Luke Skywalker supposedly devised the strategy for downing the four-legged walkers, this element of the mission may be non-canon and chalked up to game mechanics.
Strategy Guide
Take your Airspeeder to the right, towards the Shield Generator. Take out the pair of Turbolasers flanking it, hitting the Generator and ground troops as well if you get the chance. Then head left towards the wall, taking out the two Turbolasers to the left of the wall.
Fly over the wall and you will find an AT-AT firing at the 3 AT-PT's you must save. Take out the two containers on your way in, then take out the AT-AT with your tow cable. Once that's done, race back over the wall and take out the next AT-AT, and the Shield Generator if you haven't already destroyed it. You can take out any Tank Droids in that area, but do not worry too much about them, because the AT-PT's will turn right before that area.
Now head left and take out the third and final AT-AT, but do it quickly, because the AT-PT's are on their way. When the AT-AT is down, circle around and take out the swarming Tank Droids; they might be small, but if you leave them unchecked they will destroy the AT-PT's. Listen to your wingmen for the warning about incoming fighters, TIE Bombers that will rush in and bomb the AT- PT's. Stay with the AT-PT's until they safely reach the transport.
After the animation sequence, follow your radar to the Imperial Installation, but before destroying the large building, keep flying over it. you will find a container guarded by two Turbolasers. Take out the Turbolasers and then the container, where you will find the next Bonus, Seeker Proton Torpedoes. Circle back around and take out the Installation, and your mission is complete.
Tips
Time is not a consideration on this mission, but the required 65 enemies destroyed for your Gold Medal is. Be sure to take out any containers and Stormtroopers you can during the course of the mission. do not waste any time in taking out the AT- ATs, Tank Droids and TIE Bombers, because you need 7 Friendly Saves to get the Gold Medal. That means you must save all 3 AT- PTs, and your wingmen must survive the mission.
3. Blockade on Chandrila, Chapter III
Chandrila involves protecting another train and a city from Imperial forces
Briefing
You and Rogue Squadron will call on the rural agricultural planet of Chandrila, in the Bormea sector of the Core Worlds. This sparsely populated, naturally beautiful planet has two large continents surrounded by oceans, with vast plains covered by grasses and forests. While the inhabitants of Chandrila are peace-loving, they have openly supported the Rebels against the Empire.
Description
Moff seerdon has chosen to hold the Chandrila hostage, in an attempt to make the rebellion pay for its raid on Fest. You must help the innocent people of Chandrila, protect the supply train, and stop the Empire!
Mission Objectives
- Escort and protect supply train
- Protect the city
Requirements for Gold
- Completion Time: 5:45
- Enemies Destroyed: 35
- Accuracy: 20%
- Friendly Saves: 4
- Bonus Collected: 1 (Advanced Bombs)
Default Craft
Y-Wing
Optional Craft
A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus
Advanced Bombs
The Blockade of Chandrila was an event during the Galactic Civil War. After the Rebel Alliance's raid on Fest, Moff Kohl Seerdon retaliated by attacking the Chandrila, a major part of the Alliance—coincidentally his homeworld, and also the homeworld of Mon Mothma. To prevent the loss of the spaceport at Nayli, the Alliance sent an armored hover train escorted by Rogue Squadron. The train carried supplies vital to the resistance forces within the city.
Prelude
A Rebel special operations force, supported by the elite Rogue Squadron under the lead of Commander Luke Skywalker, raided the Imperial Moff Kohl Seerdon's Weapons Research Facility on the arctic world of Fest, and managed to steal a squad of three AT-PT transports before leaving. This enraged Seerdon. In retaliation for the destruction of the research facility and the theft of the AT-PTs, Seerdon invaded Chandrila, his own homeworld, as well as the homeworld of Alliance founder Mon Mothma, and blockaded the spaceport at Nayli.
The blockade
TIE Bombers pounded the city's major structures. In order to get supplies to the city, Mon Mothma deployed the elite Rogue Squadron, led by Commander Luke Skywalker, to escort an armored hovertrain carrying valuable supplies into the city limits. Upon arrival in the city, Rogue group cleared the way for three Rebel evacuation shuttles, and upon landing were blasted by AT-ST walker fire. Rogue Squadron managed to stop the six AT-STs from destroying the shuttles and allowed the shuttles carrying the innocent civilians to leave the area.
While attacking the AT-STs, Rogue Squadron proceeded to target a lone AT-ST standing guard near a shuttle landing area, retrieving advanced bombs from the wreckage. Then, three TIE Interceptors and three TIE bombers arrived to carry on the attack the previous wave had started. But they failed to do so, as Rogue Squadron returned to the city and picked them off before they could do any severe damage, saving the city.
Aftermath
Moff Seerdon happened to be on-world during the battle, and took the opportunity to taunt his former subordinate, Kasan Moor over the comlink, nearly provoking her into attacking him. However, Commander Skywalker deemed it too risky to pursue Seerdon, and withheld his squadron from attacking. In retaliation for the attack on Chandrila, Rogue Squadron mounted an effort to destroy Seerdon's Capacitor on the volcanic planet Sullust. Seerdon used this temporary distraction as an opportunity to mount a massive attack on Thyferra, seizing the Rebellion's vital bacta supplies. After Seerdon was frustrated by the Rebel efforts, he led his forces into a blockade of the sector.
Behind the scenes
The Blockade on Chandrila appears in the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. The player had to initially protect the train and the city from destruction as both would lead to mission failure. In the middle of the mission as the three landing craft dock to evacuate the people of Chandrila, the narrating voice that does the briefings and the in game missions, while on pause, inserts the new mission to "Protect the evacuation shuttles," which makes the first side mission appearance.
Strategy Guide
For the first half of the mission, stay close to the supply train, focusing on TIE Bombers, and taking out TIE Interceptors along the way. Once the animation sequence plays and the train arrives at the city, watch out for 2 more TIE Bombers that will make a run for the train.
Once they are taken care of, take out the TIE Bombers that are attacking the city. The next animation sequence will warn you of AT-STs attacking 3 Shuttles. Take these out quickly, using Proton Torpedoes and your blasters. Stick with the Shuttles until they take off, then take out the 3 TIE Interceptors that will attack it.
Once the next animation sequence tells you the city is under attack, turn and head to the other end of the city, ignoring the bombers for now. There you will find a stray AT-ST blasting at 3 small towers. Take out the AT-ST and you will find your next Bonus, Advanced Bombs. When you get the bonus return to the city and take out the remaining TIE Bombers, and the mission is complete.
Tips
The key to getting your Gold Medal here is speed, so after the train arrives at the city, waste no time in taking out the TIE Bombers and AT-STs. You do need to get 35 enemies, so try to take out as many TIE Interceptors as you can without taking your focus off the TIE Bombers.
4. Raid on Sullust, Chapter III
Difficult dogfights, a large amount of defensive measures, and difficult terrain make Sullust a difficult mission. The Y-wing is an easy target, but players must navigate through Imperial forces to bomb their targets.
Briefing
In this mission, you will fly through the thick, hot, dark clouds over Sullust, a bleak, volcanic planet in the Sullust system. With the planet's surface shrouded in toxic gases, the millions of native Sullustans have created a large underground network of caves and cities. These beautiful sub-surface sites are popular tourist attractions. Sullustans are friendly, outgoing creatures with jowls, mouse-like ears, and large round eyes, who are prized as navigators, since they never forget a path they've traveled.
Description
Kasan moor is engineering an assault on a volcano base on Sullust, in a retaliatory attack for the blockade on Chandrila.
Mission Objectives
- Destroy the transmitters
- Destroy the capacitor
Requirements for Gold
- Completion Time: 4:00
- Enemies Destroyed: 40
- Accuracy: 75%
- Friendly Saves: 0
- Bonus Collected: 1 (Seeker Torpedoes)
Default Craft
Y-Wing
Bonus
Seeker Proton Torpedoes
The Raid on Sullust was an operation carried out by Rogue Squadron, engineered by Imperial defector Kasan Moor to disable an Imperial station situated inside an active volcano known as the Capacitor. Rogue Squadron battled TIE Interceptors, turbolasers, missile turrets, and AT-STs in the fight. The installation was protected by an elaborate shield transmitter system which projected a shield that enveloped the Capacitor entirely, forcing Rogue Squadron to destroy the transmitter network first. It was a victory for the Alliance, but it was all a trick: while they were fighting here, Moff Kohl Seerdon attacked bacta supplies on Thyferra.
Prelude
After Imperial Moff Kohl Seerdon blockaded the Rebel Alliance-affiliated world Chandrila, the Rebel flight group was sent to Sullust to attack the Capacitor at a hidden Imperial base. Kasan Moor engineered the strike.
The battle
The Capacitor was surrounded by a deflector shield. Rogue Squadron, battling the base's defenses, managed to destroy the twelve shield transmitters spread throughout the area that were producing the shield. After the shield was disabled, Rogue Squadron targeted the support columns on the Capacitor. When they were destroyed, the structure split into two and crashed into the lava.
During the attack, Rogue Squadron targeted and destroyed a bunker in close proximity to both a transmitter and a TIE landing pad, uncovering another set of seeker proton torpedoes.
Aftermath
Although a success, the raid was nothing but a ruse set up by Moff Seerdon himself to draw Rogue Squadron away as he attacked Rebel bacta supplies on Thyferra.
Behind the scenes
The Raid on Sullust appears in the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Seeker proton torpedoes are the mission's upgrade.
Strategy Guide
Your first objective is to take out the transmitters, which are heavily guarded by Turbolasers and Missile Turrets. Take out as many targets as possible, following your radar at all times. do not worry about conserving bombs here, because the Missile Turrets will take you out long before you exhaust your supply.
When you reach the transmitters near a landing platform, watch out for one close to the edge of the volcano, surrounded by Turbolasers and buildings and containers. The small building to the right contains the Bonus for this mission, Seeker Proton Torpedoes.
Once you get the Bonus resume taking out the transmitters. When you finish and the animation sequence plays, head to the center of the volcano, where the capacitor floats high overhead. You must take out the nodes that rest around the center of the capacitor. Ignore the TIE Interceptors and TIE Fighters flying about, take out all the nodes, and the mission is complete.
Tips
Your main focus in the first part of the mission should be taking out transmitters and Missile Turrets. do not waste time with fancy flying or chasing after TIEs, because no matter what you do missiles will be constantly hitting you. Try to stay on a constant flight path, and make sure you hit all of your targets. The main obstacles that keep you from getting your Gold Medal in this mission are the 4 minutes you have, the 40 enemies you need to destroy, and the required 75% accuracy.
5. Moff Seerdon's Revenge, Chapter III
This mission involves protecting bacta tanks and dogfighting Imperials on a much higher level of difficulty. Thyferra also offers players a chance to fight against Moff Seerdon, a boss.
Briefing
The locale of this mission is Thyferra, a foggy, humid world with thick, tropical rain forests. This Polith system planet is inhabited by the insect-like Vratix, who developed a remarkable fluid called bacta. This miracle liquid can heal every medical condition from a scratch to a life-threatening emergency. Not surprisingly, bacta has become much sought-after by medical clinics throughout the galaxy, and by cartels that seek to control the galactic bacta industry to reap huge profits.
Description
By leading rogue squadron to Sullust, Moof seerdon has secretly captured the bacta supplies of Thyferra, and now intends to cut off medical supplies to the alliance. Free Thyfeera, and defeat seerdon once and for all!
Mission Objectives
- Protect the bacta containers
- Avoid civilian casualties
- Destroy all Imperial bunkers, fighters and bombers
- Locate and destroy Moff Seerdon
Requirements for Gold
- Completion Time: 6:00
- Enemies Destroyed: 45
- Accuracy: 30%
- Friendly Saves: 55
- Bonus Collected: 1 (Seeker Cluster Missiles)
Default Craft
X-Wing
Optional Craft
A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus
Seeker Missiles
The Imperial attack on and occupation of Thyferra took place during the Galactic Civil War around 1 ABY. The attack—the culmination of several weeks of planning by Moff Kohl Seerdon's to capture the Rebel Alliance's bacta supply—was crippling to the Alliance's pharmaceutical resources. Although Seerdon's military resources were greatly diminished by repeated guerrilla strikes from the elite Alliance starfighter wing Rogue Squadron, he was able to invade the planet relatively easily by manipulating the Alliance to divert their military to the Sullust system.
Rogue group was quickly dispatched to reclaim the bacta supply. A fierce battle took place, in which the Rogues succeeded in driving the Imperial forces off the planet, with some minimal civilian casualties. In a last ditch effort, Seerdon joined the battle in his custom Sentinel-class landing craft to personally confront Luke Skywalker, the Commander of Rogue Squadron. Skywalker bested Seerdon in the ensuing dogfight, effectively ending the Thyferra occupation.
Prelude
The Imperial Moff Kohl Seerdon had been in the planning stages for an attack on Thyferra for some time. Intel of the Rebel Alliance quickly picked up on this, and so a string of raids on Imperial territory, spearheaded by Rogue Squadron, led by Luke Skywalker, was commenced in an effort to reduce the cunning Moff's resources.
A raid on the Imperial tibanna gas platforms on the gas giant Taloraan drastically reduced Seerdon's firepower, as tibanna was used to power blasters. Around the same time, a raid on Fest took place resulted in the destruction of Seerdon's weapons research facility and the theft of three AT-PT walkers. This operation, in particular, enraged Seerdon, who quickly responded with an attack on a Chandrilan city, home of Mon Mothma, the Chief of State of the Alliance. In retaliation for the sudden attack on Chandrila, Rogue Squadron struck at the massive Capacitor situated in a volcano on Sullust. The operation, engineered by Kasan Moor, an Imperial defector who had extensive knowledge of Imperial ground operations, was a success, and the Capacitor was destroyed.
The attack
While the Alliance forces were stationed on Sullust, Seerdon gathered whatever men and resources he had left and led his final attack on Thyferra. The Alliance's bacta supply was quickly overrun, and a massive ground force was installed in the area. General Carlist Rieekan of the Alliance notified Rogue Squadron of Seerdon's actions, and Rogue Squadron was quickly deployed to reclaim the bacta. The ensuing battle between Rebel and Imperial forces was disastrous for the Imperials: not a single walker, TIE/LN starfighter, turbolaser encampment, or stormtrooper bunker survived the battle. The Imperials experienced at least 55 casualties; in stark contrast, Rogue Squadron only lost one X-wing, and even with that the pilot, Kasan Moor, managed to survive the crash.
While defending the bacta tanks, Rogue Squadron proceeded to demolish a nearby Imperial bunker, and proceeded to retrieve seeker cluster missiles in the remains.
After the entire Imperial garrison in the area was wiped out, Moff Seerdon decided to confront Commander Skywalker personally. He arrived on the planet in his custom Sentinel-class landing craft, modified for combat purposes. Challenging Skywalker to a one on one dogfight, Seerdon battled the Rogue commander in the skies over his ruined army. As the firefight went on, Seerdon tried to convince Skywalker that he was too talented to waste his prowess with the Alliance and offered him a spot in the Imperial Navy. As it became evident that Skywalker's piloting prowess outclassed Seerdon's, Seerdon vowed that even if the Rebellion won the day, the Empire will still eventually crush the Rebellion. Shortly after, his shuttle exploded in mid air.
Aftermath
With the battle won, the Rebel's bacta supply was effectively secured. With only one X-wing lost during the battle, Rogue Squadron was further cemented as the Rebellion's premier task starfighter squadron.
Behind the scenes
This Star Wars: Rogue Squadron level foreshadows the Bacta War, another conflict between Rogue Squadron and wayward Imperial forces bent on controlling the galaxy's bacta supply, seen in the novel X-Wing: The Bacta War.
Strategy Guide
This is possibly the most difficult mission in the game, and you will probably have to take many tries at it before you complete it. Take out the Missile Turret directly in your path, then bank right and take out the next one. Head left and eliminate the AT-ST and the Turbolaser, then keep straight and take out the next Missile Turret, taking out any Imperial containers along the way.
Be careful not to hit the bacta containers, and do not waste any time taking out the AT-STs once you see them; their job is to destroy the bacta, and you need 55 Friendly Saves to get the Gold Medal.
Now follow your radar and destroy any targets that are in your way. You must destroy every Imperial target in the mission. Keep an eye out for the Tie Interceptor that will constantly follow you and hit you when it can. If you leave the Tie Interceptors unchecked until the end, at least 4 of them will attack, and they hit you hard.
At some point you will come across a lone container next to a bacta container; destroy the container and inside you will find a Bonus, Cluster Seeker Missiles. Once all targets are destroyed, an animation sequence will play and you will be up against Moff Seerdon himself in his Imperial Landing Craft.
This ship is shielded to the max, so you will have to hit it several times. The best way to destroy the craft is to hit the brakes as you approach it, blast it, accelerate away a short distance, then hit the brakes and turn around and repeat. If you got the Seeker Proton Torpedoes in the previous mission, use them; a few choice shots and the Landing Craft will be destroyed and the mission is complete.
Tips
Speed is the key to getting your Gold Medal in this mission, as are the required 55 Friendly Saves. you will have to be fast, and take out AT-STs and Missile Turrets as quickly as possible. Once you complete the mission and are going for medals, try using the V-Wing for this mission, as the Cluster Missiles will help you with your speed in completing it.
