Gang-Plank Galleon
Gang-plank Galleon is the name of the first world of both Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. It takes place on the large pirate ship of the same name, docked right next to Crocodile Isle. Every level takes place on the pirate ship. The galleon has many chasms inside, the masts form a good clamber system, and inside the ship is a flooded caliginous cargo. The masts, hold and deck host many enemies, the most common being Neeks, Klomps, and Krunchas. There are a few aquatic enemies in the flooded cargo hold, including Lockjaws, Shuri, and Puftups. A large Mini-Necky boss, Krow, appears in his own crow's nest at the peak of the area.
Because of the German translation of the level Lockjaw's Locker, the Gangplank Galleon has been believed to be a reference to The Flying Dutchman, a ship whose captain was cursed to roam the seas forever on that ship. Gang-plank Galleon even bears a resemblance to the ghost ship.
In the instruction manual for both Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and its Game Boy Advance version, the first world is incorrectly named Gangplank Galley, despite the original version's manual even mentioning Gang-plank Galleon.

1. Pirate Panic, Gang-Plank Galleon
Pirate Panic is the first level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and of its world, Gangplank Galleon. It takes place on a ship deck. Since it is the first level, Pirate Panic only features basic enemies. There are many groups of stacked-up barrels that the Kongs can jump on to reach collectibles. Kaptain K. Rool's cabin follows after the start of the level. It holds an Extra Life Balloon and a note from the crocodile himself, which states that he has kidnapped Donkey Kong and is holding him ransom in exchange for the banana hoard. Much like the first level of Donkey Kong Country, Jungle Hijinxs, the Kongs discover Rambi around halfway through the level; he is required to break open a Bonus Area entrance.
Layout
At the beginning of the level, there is a straight path leading under a trail of bananas, which the Kongs can optionally collect if they throw one another into a hidden barrel at the start of the trail. A doorway with a pair of bananas in front it is farther ahead that the primates can enter to find a letter from Kaptain K. Rool and an Extra Life Balloon. A pathway is ahead of the bananas that leads the heroes up some stairs with a Neek on them. A crate stands at the top of the stairway near some large barrels that can hold up a nearby Klomp.
They can find a Banana Bunch above the barrels. A stairway leading downwards is after these barrels, taking the Kongs toward a flat area with some more large barrels that they can stand on. A gap is between some of the barrels, and the letter K floats above this gap. A crate and a DK Barrel are ahead, followed by a stairway with Neeks on it. Four barrels sit at the top of the stairs with bananas on it. The fruits are formed in the shape of the letter R. The letter O is just ahead in a lower part of the ship, along with two Klomps. The Star Barrel follows the letter.
A DK Barrel is after the Star Barrel, as well as a stairway holding two Neeks. A gap in the ship is ahead, but the Kongs can jump into it to find special items. On the other side of the gap, there is a Klobber and the letter N. These are followed by a tall pile of barrels with Klomps stomping around them. The Rambi Crate is on top of the barrels. More bananas in the formation of an R are also near here, being followed by stairs that lead down to a trail of Neeks.
Many barrels that can be stood on are piled up ahead in a lower part of the ship. Bananas in the formation of an arrow are in front of them. Neeks march in the area ahead of here in front of some large barrels that can be jumped on to reach the Video Game Hero Coin. There is a stairway after here that can be walked up to reach two Klomps, one of which stands on a few large barrels. Two more over-sized barrels are ahead with a Klobber on them. They can help the heroes jump to a raised part of the ship, where a No Animal Sign can be found. It can make Rambi disappear if he is in use. A barrel is found, which helps the Kongs land on the End of Level Target and receive a prize, either a Banana Bunch, Banana Coin, or a Red Balloon. After landing on the target, the Kongs exit the level and head to Mainbrace Mayhem.
KONG Letters
K: Located in the middle of two barrel platforms, in the air. Three Neeks patrol around the barrels.
O: Floating in the center of a small pit with two Klomps, right before the Star Barrel.
N: Behind the first Klobber after the Star Barrel; the Kongs can also automatically collect from entering the first Bonus Area.
G: Just before the No Animal Sign, two Klomps walk around a set of five barrel platforms. The "G" is located at the end.
Key items
The location of the golden feather in the Game Boy Advance version Cranky's Video Game Hero Coin: After the second Bonus Area, Diddy and Dixie can jump off of a large stack of two barrel platforms or use team up to reach it.
Bonus Levels
Find the Token!: Diddy and Dixie can enter the first Bonus Barrel shortly after the Star Barrel, by running down a crack in the ship. They must follow a short trail of bananas to the right. In the Bonus Stage, the Kongs' objective is to jump between tall barrel piles and obtain the Kremkoin from the highest one within 20 seconds.
Destroy Them All!: After the Kongs mount Rambi, they can find a nearby wall, which is pointed at by Bananas in the shape of a left arrow. Rambi must Supercharge into the wall to break it, therefore allowing access to the Bonus Area. Their objective to defeat every Neek and Klomp within 20 seconds. A Kremkoin appears after they defeat every enemy.
Warp Barrel
The Warp Barrel is hidden above the first barrel platform in the level, which itself is located after the first Crate. They can reach the barrel via team up. If they throw on another into the space that the invisible barrel is located, the Warp Barrel appears and sends them into a Bonus Level that takes place on a ship, where they can find a group of bananas that form an exclamation mark. If they walk into a doorway to the right of the bananas, they are taken out of the bonus and onto a barrel platform placed immediately before the End of Level Target.
Trivia
In the SNES version, there is a secret that allows the Kongs to obtain all 75 Kremkoins early. Players should head into the cabin where Kaptain K. Rool's note is found, then leave without collecting the Extra Life Balloon or reading the note. The players should then collect the first Banana Bunch without collecting any other bananas. Then, they should go back into the cabin, without collecting any bananas, and grab the 1-Up Balloon. The players should leave the cabin, and repeat the second step. The player should go back into the cabin, without collecting any bananas. This causes one Kremkoin worth 75 to spawn inside.
In the Game Boy Advance version, the letter in Kaptain K. Rool's cabin was shown earlier during the introduction cutscene. It is the same message as the note in the instruction manual (except for a missing salutation), while the Super Nintendo version has a different message than the manual.
A few things are in the background of the cabin, including a portrait of K. Rool, a skull-and-crossbones pirate flag, a treasure chest with K. Rool's crown and a cutlass, and a map on a table. In the Game Boy Advance remake, there is a small, green sailboat on a barrel next to the cabin entrance.
2. Mainbrace Mayhem, Gang-Plank Galleon
Mainbrace Mayhem is the second level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and the second level of the first world, Gangplank Galleon. It is unlocked by clearing Pirate Panic, and is the first level to take place on a ship's mast. Diddy and Dixie Kong must climb multiple ship masts and yards in order to progress, using vertical and horizontal ropes to reach the top of each one. Unlike Donkey Kong Country, the Kongs cannot swing from these ropes. Mainbrace Mayhem is the first level that has kannons and kannonballs, both used together to access a Bonus Level.
Layout
The level begins on a yard with a Click-Clack and a few bananas on it. There is a tilted yard just ahead with a pair of Neeks and a barrel on it. A DK Barrel shakes in front of a nearby rope that leads up to a higher yard and the letter K. A Click-Clack is on this yard, and two more of these blue insects are on the following yard to the left. A crate also sits on the yard. Ropes are above here, and a Klinger slides along them, guarding a Banana Coin. The ropes can be used to reach a yard with another Click-Clack on it. A set of ropes floats near here with the letter O and another Klinger on it. Two yards are located around these ropes. The one on the left holds two Banana Coins, while the one to the right leads to some ropes. A Click-Clack is on this yard. Once the Kongs climb the ropes, they find themselves on a higher yard with a barrel. The Star Barrel is also above them here.
Neeks march down a tilted yard just ahead. Ropes are right after the mob of foes, holding a DK Barrel. When the Kongs climb the rope, they can find a yard with two Klomps and a crate on it. They can either travel along this yard or continue along the rope, which leads above the Kremling enemies. Many bananas are along the long rope. At the end of the rope and the yard, the heroes can find two sets of ropes, both of which that are infested with Klingers. The letter N is next to the second set of ropes, which can be climbed to reach a yard with a Klomp, a DK Barrel, and a kannonball.
There is a tilted yard nearby to the west, which has a pair a Click-Clacks marching along it. A flat yard is at the end of this one, which holds a cannon that can shoot the primates to a Bonus Level if the kannonball found previously is inserted into it. Some ropes with a Klinger on them are above here. The Kongs can climb along the ropes to reach a second set of ropes with two Klingers on them. A yard is hidden to the left of here with a Bonus Barrel located above it. Soon, the heroes climb farther along the ropes, which lead straight to a yard with the End of Level Target. The end prizes include a Banana Bunch, Banana Coin, or a red Extra Life Balloon.
KONG Letters
K: At the top-right of the first rope, hovering between a square..
O: on the third set of ropes, to the left of a Klinger.
N: After the Star Barrel, the Kongs must climb a few more sets of ropes. The letter N is next to the second Klinger, on the right.
G: After the kannon, the Kongs must climb up a rope, go horizontal, and then straight down to find the letter G hanging at the bottom of a rope.
Key items
Cranky's Video Game Hero Coin: From the yard below the third Bonus Barrel, the Kongs must use team up to reach an uppermost yard. They can also land on it by exiting the third Bonus Level. From the level's uppermost yard, the Kongs must continue forward and jump to another yard to the right and collect its Video Game Hero Coin.
Golden feather (Game Boy Advance version): To find the golden feather, the Kongs must be on a grid-shaped series of ropes with the letter O. They must jump left to land on a hidden yard with two Banana Coins and the golden feather.
Bonus Levels
Find the Token!: The first Bonus Level is near the start of the level. From the start, the Kongs must continue forward until they find a group of bananas in the shape of a right arrow. They must travel across the gap below (either from Diddy's cartwheel or Dixie's Helicopter Spin) to reach a grid-shaped rope. They must then jump into a Bonus Barrel on the right. The Bonus Level's objective is for Diddy and Dixie to collect the Kremkoin at the top within 20 seconds. To do so, they must climb up a series of three vertical grid ropes, with individual bananas being placed along the way. After climbing up the third rope, the Kongs can jump to the platform on the right for the Kremkoin.
Destroy Them All!: Past the Star Barrel, after the letter N, the Kongs find a kannonball. They must pick up the object, pass a Klomp and two Click-Clacks along the way, and throw it into the nearby kannon to activate it. By entering it, the Kongs are sent to the second Bonus Level. Here, the Kongs must defeat five Klingers, either by obtaining a crate from the left or a barrel from the right. From a yard at the bottom-center, the Kongs can pick up and use a kannonball, which doesn't break after the first hit. Lastly the Kongs can use team up to attack the Klingers. After every Klinger is defeated, a Kremkoin spawns just above the center of the bottom yard; the Kongs must collect it within the remaining time.
Collect the Stars!: After the kannon, the Kongs must climb up a grid-shaped rope, then move across horizontally, and finally move all the way to the top. They must jump left to land on a yard. From there, they must use team up to enter a Bonus Barrel at the upper-left. Here, the Kongs must collect 75 stars within 35 seconds, by climbing up and around the grids of a single large set of ropes. After collecting every star, the Kremkoin appears above the upper-right yard, and the Kongs must collect it within the remaining time.
Warp Barrel
At the very start, Dixie must jump off the first yard and then use Helicopter Spin to continue hovering left and below the yard. Almost midway, Dixie lands into a Warp Barrel. This leads her and Diddy into a small warp room (which still retains the level's rigging theme) that only consists of a group of bananas arranged in the shape of an exclamation point.
3. Gangplank Galley, Gang-Plank Galleon
Gangplank Galley is the third level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and the third level of the first world, Gangplank Galleon. It is similar to the first level, Pirate Panic, taking place on a wrecked pirate ship, and the sun sets slowly over the course of the level. Kaboings and Krunchas are the newly introduced enemies in the level. Throughout the level, there are hooks that Diddy and Dixie Kong can grapple on to reach higher areas or to cross wide gaps. Secret items are often hidden on the highly stacked barrels. An Exclamation Point Barrel first appears in this level, located near the end. The water in the background is green during the sunset. In the Game Boy Advance version, it has a more grayish appearance.
Layout
The Kongs begin the level in front of a large pile of barrels with a Bonus Barrel on top of them and a few hooks to the right of it that hang above a Banana Bunch and the level's Video Game Hero Coin. In front of the barrels, the primates can find a Kaboing and a pair of ledges with a Klomp between them. A few barrels are stacked up ahead of here that the Kongs can climb on to reach a few bananas and a DK Barrel, which is followed by a small stairway that a few Kaboings hop along. At the top of the stairs, the heroes can find a treasure chest that contains a Banana Bunch. After they travel down an additional stairway, they come up to a few barrel platforms with two Klomps on top of and in front of them. The barrels can be climbed on to aid the heroes in reaching a higher ledge with a hook above it that hangs next to the letter K.
If the primates continue from here, they come down another small stairway with a few Kaboings on it. A pair of barrels is at the bottom of the stairway that can be used to reach a trio of hooks that can be climbed to reach a DK Barrel and the bananas under it. A treasure chest that contains a red Extra Life Balloon is also under the DK Barrel, which is followed by a ledge with a Neek on top of it. The heroes can spot a trail of bananas leading upwards near the rat enemy, and a hidden Barrel Cannon is above it that can shoot them onto a tall stack of barrels. Two more tall piles of barrels are after this stack, and between each of them is a hook with a Banana Bunch or the letter O below it. If the primates do not travel along these barrels, they must instead travel through a lower part of the ship that is full of Kaboings. After they climb out of this lower area, they come up to a Neek and a barrel platform that is followed by a small ledge with a Banana Coin-containing treasure chest at the bottom of it. Once the Kongs climb a small stairway with a Klomp at the top of it, they can discover a Star Barrel.
The primates can find a large set of barrels at the bottom of a stairway located after the Star Barrel. A Kruncha and the letter N are above the barrels, while a Klomp and a DK Barrel are in front of them. After the heroes climb to the top of a nearby stairway that Neeks march along, they come up to a wide abyss that they can cross with the use of a hook floating over it. On the other side of the pit, there is a treasure chest that holds a Banana Bunch. It is followed by a large group of barrels that form two rows. A Kruncha is on each of the rows, and an additional Kruncha marches in front of the barrels. Another wide abyss follows here, and it contains two hooks that the heroes can use to cross it. They can find an Exclamation Point Barrel on the other side of the pit that makes them invincible for a limited amount of time when they hit it.
A stairway follows the barrel that a few Neeks march along. Two pairs of large barrels are ahead of here. While the first pair stands behind a Kruncha and holds a few bananas, the other supports a Kruncha and sits behind some bananas. A Banana Bunch is located to the right of the second barrel pair, and a small stairway with a Kaboing on it is below it. On the bottom of these stairs, the Kongs can find a large stack of barrels that hold a few Krunchas, a treasure chest that holds a red Extra Life Balloon, and two bananas.
A Bonus Barrel is also above it. Once the Kongs head past the pile of barrels, they make their way up a set of stairs with a few Kaboings on them and then approach a wide abyss with some hooks above it. Once they cross the pit, they come up to the End of Level Target. If they jump on the target from the ground, they simply complete the level, but if they jump on it from a nearby hook, they complete the level and earn a prize.
KONG Letters
K: Located next to a hook after a pair of two Klomps.
O: After the Kongs pass the second DK Barrel in the level, they can find a trail of bananas beneath a Blast Barrel. Using their team up move, the Kongs can enter the barrel, which blasts them on top of the adjacent stack of barrels. The Kongs must jump from a hook and onto the next stack of barrels. The letter O is hanging beneath the second hook.
N: After the Star Barrel, the Kongs must jump onto some barrel platforms guarded by a Kruncha. They can obtain the letter N, which is hovering above the center.
G: Just after the Exclamation Point Barrel, the Kongs stumble upon a treasure chest which they can attack an enemy with. By doing so, the chest releases the letter G.
Key items
Cranky's Video Game Hero Coin: The Video Game Hero Coin is near the first Bonus Level. From the top of the stack of barrels, just below the Bonus Barrel, Dixie must use her Helicopter Spin to hover all the way right to grab onto a hook in the air.
Dixie must jump to the third hook to obtain the Video Game Hero Coin. In the Game Boy Advance version, Diddy can reach the Bonus Area by performing a cartwheel jump.
It shoots the Kongs through a path below the ship where they obtain three Banana Coins, some bananas, and a golden feather, before another Blast Barrel blasts them back on the main path.
Bonus Levels
Find the Kremkoin!: The first Bonus Barrel appears directly above the starting point.
The Kongs must reach the top of the stack of barrel platforms and then jump into a Bonus Barrel located above the highest barrel. The Bonus Area appears to take place in the cabin at the start of Pirate Panic. Here, the Kongs have ten seconds to obtain the Kremkoin in one of the four treasure chests. They can break the chests by throwing them at a red Zinger, and three of the chests contain bananas. After breaking the correct treasure chest, the Kongs can grab the Kremkoin within the remaining time.
Find the Kremkoin!: The second and final Bonus Barrel is near the end of the level. After the Kongs cross the big gap with two hooks over it, they must jump at a nearby Exclamation Point Barrel. With its temporary invincibility, the Kongs must quickly run to a series of barrel stacks with a Kruncha on each. Like the first Bonus Barrel, the second one appears above the tallest stack of barrels. They can reach the top by either jumping from the stacks or by using team up from the stack with a treasure chest. In the Bonus Area, the Kongs only have 15 seconds to obtain the Kremkoin on top of a tall stack of barrels. They must quickly jump from some hooks, arranged in a "C" shape, to obtain the Kremkoin at the top.
Warp Barrel
By using team up to the right of the first Bonus Barrel, the Kongs can enter the Warp Barrel from above them. This transports them into a small room with many bananas in the center. If the Kongs walk out the exit to the right, they are blasted back into the main level, on a hook located immediately before the End of Level Target.
4. Lockjaw's Locker, Gang-Plank Galleon
Lockjaw's Locker is the fourth level in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, as well as of Gangplank Galleon. It is the first underwater level of the game. As such, it is also the first level with underwater enemies, such as Flotsams, Lockjaws, and Shuris. Lockjaw's Locker takes place in a flooded ship cargo. There are two animal crates containing Enguarde, which is coincidentally also the case in Donkey Kong Country's Coral Capers. While Enguarde is not required for completing the level, he does assist Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong with defeating underwater foes, and is required to enter Lockjaw Locker's single Bonus Area. There are items such as bananas placed between the walls, and the Kongs can optionally swim to them through hidden paths to obtain them.
The first Enguarde Box is located down a path just beneath the first Lockjaw. The second Enguarde Box is found by swimming down a path just after the first Shuri. Unlike Coral Capers, the two Enguardes cannot appear together because of a No Animal Sign which appears some place between their locations.
Layout
When the Kongs begin the level, they find themselves falling downwards between many large crates and barrels in the ship's cargo hold. As they fall, they come up to a long, curvy trail of bananas, until they eventually land on some solid crates that they can walk along. If they press to the right against the wall as they fall, they can also access a hidden passage containing two Banana Coins and a Banana Bunch. Once the Kongs reach the ground area, they can find a Klomp ahead of them, who walks near an alcove full of water and some bananas. On the other side of the alcove, they can find a DK Barrel and two Klomps that march on a crate and a treasure chest full of banana peels. A wider alcove full of water is ahead of here with the letter K and a Flotsam above it. A Banana Bunch also hovers over the water. Once they cross the alcove, the water begins to rise, allowing them to travel upwards over a higher piece of sunken luggage. As they swim through this area, they come past a few Flotsams and a Lockjaw, who are followed by a line of bananas and another DK Barrel.
A hidden passage between some crates is also in this area, and it contains a long trail of bananas and two Banana Coins. There is another hidden passage under a crate found below the aforementioned DK Barrel, and if the primates swim through it, they can find a room containing an animal crate with Enguarde inside of it. An additional area is above the DK Barrel as well that contains a group of bananas that form the letter A and the entrance to a Bonus Level. If the primates travel forward from the DK Barrel, they come up to some more Flotsams and another Lockjaw, whom the letter O can be found under amongst some bananas in an alcove.
After they pass this foe, they find a pathway leading upwards past a few Flotsams that swim in a horizontal path across the area. At the top this pathway, the water begins to lower. A No Animal Sign sits on some of the luggage to the left of here, and the primates can only get Enguarde over to it if they swim toward it before the water becomes too shallow. Otherwise, they have to dismount from the helper and continue past the sign on foot. If they manage to reach the sign with the swordfish, the helper disappears and they are given a red Extra Life Balloon. An area full of water follows the sign, and if the Kongs swim to the bottom of it, they can find a Star Barrel.
After the two friends pass the Star Barrel, they find a passage leading upwards past a DK Barrel and a Flotsam. As they continue past the Flotsam, the water begins to rise again, allowing them to travel higher into a wide area with the letter N in the corner of it. If they head west from the letter N, they come past a Shuri and then past a few Flotsams. Another Shuri follows these enemies, and if the primates feel along the ground below it, they can find a hidden passage on the other side of the crates that contains many bananas and two Banana Coins. A room containing another animal crate with Enguarde is at the end of this passage, along with a single Lockjaw. If the heroes head north from the aforementioned Shuri, they come up to a trail of bananas and past a few Flotsams to reach a wide area full of Lockjaws. An alcove is above the first Lockjaw that contains several bananas and the letter G.
In a lower part of the area, they can also find more bananas and a Banana Coin in some alcoves. Once the heroes travel past all of the Lockjaws, they come through a wide passage containing a few Shuris and then access a large area, where the water begins to lower. They can find a hidden area above some crates containing many bananas and a Video Game Hero Coin if they quickly travel to the east before the water lowers too much. If they do not reach this section of the level, the water lowers them down to a passage that contains a few Flotsams. After passing the foes, the group reaches a No Animal Sign on top of some large barrels. If the sign is reached with Enguarde, who disappears before passing it, they are given a Banana Bunch. An End of Level Target is ahead of here, and the Kongs successfully complete the level when it is hit. If they shoot to the target from a nearby Barrel Cannon, they win a prize after completing the level. The prizes include a Banana Bunch, red Extra Life Balloon, or a Banana Coin.
KONG Letters
K: Floating above the first Flotsam in the level.
O: After the Kongs pass the second DK Barrel in the level, they must swim beneath a Lockjaw to obtain the letter O in an alcove.
N: After passing the Star Barrel, the Kongs must swim up. When they encounter a Flotsam, they must swim up-right to find the letter N.
G: Near the end of the level, the Kongs enter an area with a few Lockjaws. The letter G is located in an upper-left alcove, which is guarded by a Lockjaw.
Key items
Cranky's Video Game Hero Coin: After the letter G, the Kongs must continue going right until they pass two Shuri. Just when they reach a wide, open path leading below, the Kongs must quickly swim right and follow a trail of bananas. The bananas lead them to a floating platform and down to the Video Game Hero Coin. They can also use Enguarde's Superstab to get onto the platform more easily. If the Kongs miss the platform, they can use team up from the No Animal Sign just before the End of Level Target.
Bonus Level
Find the Token!: After breaking the first Enguarde Box, the Kongs must swim to a nearby DK Barrel and move straight up. In the enclosed space, Enguarde must use his Superstab move, which is hinted at by a group of bananas in an 'A' formation, and charge into a breakable wall, with a lone banana on its surface. The objective is to find the Kremkoin at the end of the maze within 40 seconds.
Warp Barrel
At the very start, after the Kongs fall down into the level, they encounter a Klomp. They must use team up to reach a cranny found above the center of the platform and enter the Warp Barrel. The warp zone takes place in a tight room featuring a large group of bananas arranged in the shape of an exclamation mark. This area is flooded with water, which drops just after the Kongs move forward. By exiting the warp room, the Kongs are dropped off at the No Animal Sign just before the End of Level Target.
5. Topsail Trouble, Gang-Plank Galleon
Topsail Trouble is the fifth level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and of the first world, Gangplank Galleon. It is the second rigging level after Mainbrace Mayhem. It is another vertical level, where Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong must reach the top. Unlike Mainbrace Mayhem, Topsail Trouble takes place during a rainstorm. Rattly makes his first appearance in the level, and his animal crate is at the very start. The Kongs can optionally ride Rattly for the first half, up until the No Animal Sign, and make use of his high jumping ability to travel higher more easily. If they do not ride Rattly, the Kongs must jump from hooks to move between platforms and masts. During the second half, the Kongs must climb up horizontal and vertical ropes while avoiding enemies, especially Zingers.
Layput
The Kongs begin the level on a short yard next to an animal crate that contains Rattly. Two rows of bananas are above the heroes in this area. If they travel ahead from here, they reach a longer yard with a pair of Neeks and a Kaboing on it. The letter K hovers above the yard, which is followed by another yard that is connected to a large mast with some platforms on it that the heroes can use to climb. If they do not have Rattly to help them head up the platforms, they can instead use a hook between the structures on the mast.
Once the primates reach the second level of yards, they can find a higher part of the previous mast with a red Extra Life Balloon above it. A DK Barrel also sits on the first yard in this area, which also holds a Click-Clack. There are two smaller yards ahead of here that are both tilted and hold a Click-Clack. The Kongs can find a mast sticking out from behind the last of these yards that holds a few round structures. They can use the platforms on the masts and a hook to climb to the third level of yards, where there is a small, tilted yard that is held by a mast with a Bonus Barrel above it.
The primates can find three leveled yards ahead of here, and the first two of them hold Kaboings. The last of the yards is held under a DK Barrel, which a hook can be found next to. Another hook is after this yard with a group of bananas under it that form the letter R. A large mast with some wooden platforms on it is behind the hook and the bananas, and they can use it to climb to the next level of yards. When they reach the first yard, they can find the letter O above them. A hook is next to it, along with a strong mast with a platform on it that supports a treasure chest, which contains a red Extra Life Balloon.
The heroes can find an additional structure above them on the mast that they can reach with either a nearby hook or Rattly. If they head west from the platform, they come up to a small yard with a Kruncha on it and then a platform on a mast, which is located under a Blast Barrel. This barrel can blast them onto a higher yard with a crate and a No Animal Sign on it, which makes Rattly disappear when it is passed. The Kongs also earn a Banana Coin if they lead Rattly to this sign. Just before the sign, they can find a platform on the top of a mast, which is structured under another Banana Coin. If the two friends continue from here, they soon reach a Star Barrel.
A long set of ropes with a Zinger and a Banana Bunch at the beginning of it is located after the yard found under the Star Barrel. As the heroes head to the east with these ropes, they come under a few bananas with a DK Barrel among them. Some more ropes that can be climbed to travel upwards are ahead of here, and the first Klinger in the level climbs along them. A rope leading to the west is at the top of these ropes that is positioned slightly above a Zinger. If they pass this wasp foe, they come along a set of ropes that lead higher up. A Klinger climbs along the ropes, which is placed next to a hidden yard with a golden feather (exclusive to the Game Boy Advance version) and a Banana Bunch on it.
The heroes can find another yard farther up at the top of the ropes. This yard holds a small crate and is structured under a Flitter with some bananas above it. Some ropes are under this yard that the Kongs can climb down to find the letter N being guarded by a Zinger. As the primates travel upwards with the ropes, they come up to a Zinger that flies close to an invisible Banana Coin and then a horizontal tightrope with another Zinger in front of it. A DK Barrel is above the Zinger, and a pair of Flitters are above the rope. The heroes can bounce on them to reach a hidden Bonus Barrel, which is positioned under a yard that Diddy and Dixie are sent too after playing in the second Bonus Level.
If the primates continue along the aforementioned tightrope, they climb toward a pair of Zingers that block their path. After they are passed, the heroes come up to some more ropes that lead upwards past a Klinger. A horizontal rope is to the left of the top of these ropes, and a Zinger flies around it. Some more ropes leading upwards are soon after the Zinger, and as they are climbed, the duo can find a yard to their right that holds the hidden Video Game Hero Coin. If they continue along the ropes, they come up to a horizontal rope with three Zingers all the way across it. Once they dodge all of the foes, they can find more ropes that can help them continue upwards. Once they climb the ropes, they reach another horizontal rope that is guarded by two Zingers, one of which that is stationary.
In the Game Boy Advance version of the game, a few hooks are hidden to the left of this rope that can help the heroes reach a yard positioned high in the air. It supports a lone Click-Clack, who is in possession of a photograph. If the primates pass the previously-mentioned Zingers, they reach a yard with an End of Level Target on it, which they can jump on to complete the level successfully. If they jump on the target from the nearby ropes, they can win a prize, either the letter G, a Banana Bunch, or a Banana Coin. Beyond the target, the Kongs can find a Crate and a blue Extra Life Balloon; they must be quick to obtain the balloon because it floats away quickly.
KONG Letters
K: The letter is floating high above the second yard, near the end, where two Neeks and a Klomp are found. Rattly is required to reach the letter.
O: After the first Bonus Level, the Kongs must continue onward and pass two Kaboings. Shortly after, they can find the letter O floating over a platform with a Klomp.
N: After the Kongs pass the second Klinger, they end up on a horizontal rope. Instead of going left, the Kongs must go right and then move down some square-shaped ropes. The letter N is at the lowest rope, where a Zinger passes back and forth through the letter.
G: The letter G is one of the End of Level Target prizes.
Key items
Cranky's Video Game Hero Coin: After the third Klinger, the Kongs must pass a Zinger and then climb to the top of some square-shaped ropes. They must jump to the right to land on a hidden yard. The Video Game Hero Coin hovers above it, and the Kongs can use team up to reach the Video Game Hero Coin.
Bonus Levels
Destroy them All!: After passing a few Click-Clacks, the Kongs and Rattly must get on the yard. From there, Rattly must perform a Superjump to get onto a circular platform, and then jump again to land into the Bonus Barrel above. The objective is to defeat six Flitters within 15 seconds. After the Kongs and Rattly do so, a Kremkoin appears on right-side mast for them to obtain.
Find the Token!: After the letter N, the Kongs eventually come across two Flitters stationed in midair. Diddy and Dixie must jump to the right of both Flitters to grab a hidden hook. They must jump on the Flitters and land into a Bonus Barrel at the upper-left. The objective is for the Kongs to obtain the Kremkoin within 15 seconds. The Kongs must climb up a single large series of ropes and avoid four Flitters, who horizontally move back and forth across the rope. When the Kongs reach the top of the rope, they must jump right to collect the Kremkoin, which is hovering above a yard.
Warp Barrel
At the very start, the Kongs must perform a roll jump below the yard and land into a hidden Warp Barrel. This takes them into a hidden warp room, which has some bananas forming the shape of an exclamation mark. By continuing right, Diddy and Dixie exit the room, and they are sent to the end of the level, right between two Zingers, just before the End of Level Target.
6. Krow's Nest, Gang-Plank Galleon
Krow's Nest is the boss level of Gangplank Galleon, the first world of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. The Kongs must face Krow in order to reach the second world, Crocodile Cauldron. Krow's Nest is a pun on crow's nest, the lookout post of a ship, and similarly, Krow's Nest is the one of Gangplank Galleon.
Krow's Nest was originally supposed to take place during the storm, right after Topsail Trouble, which takes place during the storm. However, in the final version, it is set in a windy setting like Mainbrace Mayhem.
Krow's Nest takes place at a mast on the peak of Gangplank Galleon, with the top of a sail acting as a floor. There are two Banana Coins hiding above his nest, and the Kongs can reach it by performing team up. The battle starts with Krow taking out an egg from his nest and dropping it on the ground; the egg slowly bounces in the direction of Diddy and Dixie, going lower with each bounce, until it stops moving. When the egg stops moving, either from being hit or by having the Kongs jump onto it themselves, Krow charges at the Kongs. Diddy or Dixie have to pick up the egg and hit Krow with it. Eventually, after a second hit, Krow begins to attack by ramming his head into his nest, causing a few eggs to fall from the nest individually while spinning. One of the eggs eventually lands on the ground, allowing Diddy or Dixie to use it. If the Kongs do not pick up the egg on time or hit Krow with the egg, the process repeats. After taking a fourth hit, Krow is defeated, the Kongs rewarded with a Kremkoin, and the next world, Crocodile Cauldron, is unlocked.
