Pyramid of Power
- 1. Get ready for the final battle
- 2. Survive Ganon’s first phase
- 3. Thwart Ganon’s trick of darkness
- 4. Grab the Triforce
1. Get ready for the final battle, Pyramid of Power
Ganon will come flying towards the Pyramid of Power and, when finally there, he will plummet through its top, carving a near cookie-cutter image of himself through the apex of the pyramid. Your duck will drop you off right next to the pit, making getting to Ganon not a problem at all.
The only task you have left before going to Ganon is making sure you are ready for the final fight. If you need to buy Potions or grab a few Fairies, go and do that now. You will also want a full Magic Meter (which you should have gotten from defeating Agahnim, but it must be said for completion’s sake). And of course you will need the Golden Sword and the Silver Arrows (but you should already have them, right?).
Once you are ready for Ganon, drop through the opening atop the Pyramid of Power.
2. Survive Ganon’s first phase, Pyramid of Power
you will drop down into Ganon’s pit, and you will be at Ganon straight away. Ganon will monologue briefly to you, but once he has done, the battle will start right away.
Ganon’s first party trick involves his trident. Ganon will start to spin his trident around in the air; after a second or two, he will throw it, and it will start to fly on its own throughout the room. Not long after this, Ganondorf will eventually teleport to a new location, and the trident will start to hone in on him. When he catches his trident, Ganon will be vulnerable for a few moments before starting his next attack, and that is your cue to waylay into him. Use the Golden Sword to pound him as many times as you can before he teleports away again.
Ganon will throw his trident around, teleport, and then magically catch it.
Deal damage to Ganon whenever you have the opportunity.
Once you manage to do a sufficient bit of damage to him, which if you are quick enough could be after his first or second trident attack, Ganon will shift his methodology. he will still spin his trident around, but instead of throwing it, eventually a ring of fire will start to surround his trident. This will make it more difficult to attack Ganon, but you can still land a few blows by hitting him on the side opposite his trident. About two seconds after the ring of fire is completed, that ring of fire will expand to take up about half of the room, so you will want to retreat to the opposite side of the room just ahead of it. The ring will eventually contract back to its original size; you can perhaps land a hit or two on Ganon before those fireballs become Blazing Bats.
One by one, those bats will dart off after you, flying in a straight line until they reach the edge of the screen. When they start to form, put some distance between you and Ganon and sidestep each bat as it comes towards you. Ganon will teleport to a new location; it is possible that he might make several teleports, but a single teleport is still very likely.
Perhaps after your second or third foray into Ganon’s second pattern, he will switch it up again. Ganon will ditch his trident. Instead, he will breath fire, and this fire will encircle Ganon, dropping patches of fire around Ganon in concentric circles. Eventually, Ganon will jump up into the air and pound the ground. When this happens, a single row of tiles along the edge of the room will crumble away, starting with the top row. You will need to continue to damage him through this phase or else he will not perform his ground pound, and you the entire outer edge of the room to be collapsed to continue. It is possible that he will not breathe fire in certain circumstances, but you should always anticipate it nonetheless.
Do be extremely careful when approaching this newly exposed pit. It may have the look of a bottomless, black pit, but it is anything but that! If you fall, you will descend a level in the Pyramid of Power, and your only choice is to exit the Pyramid and drop back down the top. If you have to do this, you will be starting the fight over from the very beginning.
When the trident disappears, Ganon will create a gap at the edge of the room.
He does not always use Blazing Bats. However, he always will if you do not inflict damage to him.
3. Thwart Ganon’s trick of darkness, Pyramid of Power
Once he has pounded the ground four times and killed a row on each side of the room, you will know you are halfway there. Ganon will speak to you, admiring your effort. However, in that moment of admiration, he will accidentally give you a hint. Ganon is going to throw the full weight of the Dark World at you, and it is only through the light that you can defeat him.
Ganon, at this point, will not really produce too many more crazy tricks at you. you have almost seen everything there is to see. Perhaps the only thing that is really new is that Ganon will toss a Blazing Bat out at you, and in its wake it will temporarily drop a wall of fire in a straight line. It will dissipate before long, but you will need to make sure you avoid it. The only other major thing that happens with Ganon is that his teleports will start to become much more chaotic; he will teleport three or four times in a row before finally settling in a point.
However, the secret technique of Darkness that Ganon alludes to is that the two torches at the bottom of the room will eventually go out. When even one of the two torches is out, Ganon will veil himself in the darkness, making him unable to be seen. Certainly, the last known position of Ganon will hang around for a few minutes; however, you shouldn’t take for granted that Ganon is actually where that image remains.
In order to defeat Ganon, you need to dare bring light into Ganon’s lair. You will also need to get into a regular step-by-step routine and perform it like clockwork.
You will need to wait for the torches to grow dim and the light to fade.
From the edge of the platform, use the Fire Rod to light both of the torches. Ganon will appear, but it will take him a second or so for the game to update his position.
Wait for Ganon to finish one teleportation cycle.
Once he finishes teleporting, hit him with your sword. Do it fast enough, he will not be able to use his Blazing Bat to attack. When you hit him, he will turn solid blue.
When he is blue, fire a Silver Arrow into his heart. This is the only way to inflict real damage. Everything up to now has been just about lowering Ganon’s defenses. H will only stay stunned for two seconds.
Once you drill a Silver Arrow into Ganon, you will need to start back at Step One and repeat this process. Dodge Ganon’s attack; light the torches; wait for him to settle; strike him with a sword; hit him with a Silver Arrow when he has blue. If you are lucky, you might be able to get two cycles of sword hits and Arrows without having to relight the torches, but it is exceptionally difficult. Once you manage to strike him successfully with four Silver Arrows, Ganon will be no more. he will combust in a violent explosion; the lights will go out, and Link, you will have won.
4. Grab the Triforce, Pyramid of Power
You can fall down the pits at the edge of the room and have to redo this fight over from the very beginning.
With Ganon dead, a door will appear on the north end of the room, and it will shine light into here. Head through the door to claim the Triforce and enjoy the ending sequence. you have earned it!
